fat hippo

This morning I woke up to Kyle crawling into bed.  “What time is it?” I asked…to which he replied “You have to get up in 10 minutes.”  WHAT!? He was working on this deal until 5:05 AM, but guess what?  IT’S DONE!!!  And my STUD of a fiancé was the leader of the entire project.  Sorry, I just had to brag a bit, now that I’m finally able to discuss it, and not sworn to SUPER secrecy. ANYways… New bread!  Okay, maybe not new new, because I would never stray from my beloved Alvarado Street,… Read more >

My blossoming relationship

I was so excited to get to sleep in today, until I woke up to my crazy co-worker calling me at the crack of dawn…there goes that.  In her defense, she’s crazy in a good way…still, when I’m with her, I don’t know if I should (a) shoot her up with Haldol or (b) just further feed her kookiness with my own wacky ways. *FYI: Haldol is a med for schizo patients She works night shifts, so we don’t actually work directly with each other, hence the ridiculously early phone calls on my days off. … Read more >

salad challenge kick-off

I’m not sure why it’s a challenge…since I heart salads, and welcome all motivation to get creative in the mixed greens department.  But hey, I’m not one to turn down something I can obviously succeed at a challenge. Back to the b-fast eats.  A pile of toast with some Smart Balance light.  Note the pre-photo nibbled corner.   😉 I need to go shopping, after living on live sprouted bread (ie Ezekiel, Alvarado street, etc) for so long, the regular whole wheat stuff just doesn’t cut it…   Other AM yummies: vanilla soy yog and chai… Read more >

tuesday

Finally, a day off of work…time to get the apartment set up! After I got back from errands, I made a big lunch.  A pseudo BLT (soy bacon, spinach, and hummus)…ok, so it was a BLH.  I used Lightlife soy bacon and Sabra hummus (obvi) on my fave, Alvarado street bread. Looks delish, huh!!! I cleaned the apartment while snacking chowing down some dried fruit. I was a bit of a slacker, and really wasn’t feeling the gym, but I dragged myself there (my goal is to not come in last in April’s half marathon). … Read more >

working Easter weekend

On the way to work I was debating how embarrassing it would be to puke on the subway…after weighing my options, I boarded the train.  No, it wasn’t the current economic situation or the fact that we are supposed to be saving for a wedding that forced me to go to work (although it didn’t help), it was the knowledge that by suffering through a 12 hour shift while your insides were in a deep turmoil was actually preferable to moving.  In case you couldn’t tell by my last few posts, I HATE MOVING.  I… Read more >
