Playing in LA-LA land

In between apartment searching, we’ve been doing some exploring… Looks like WF has some competition (not really, but let’s pretend)!  Can you believe I had never heard of Co-Ops until a year ago?  I grew up with Farmer’s Markets, Health Foods Stores, and the likes, but somehow this amazing phenomenon eluded me.  Luckily Santa Monica has one that I know will become a mainstay in my life. In addition to local growers’ produce, etc. this place has tons of great prepared eats…vegan and raw goods aplenty!  The raw foods section was really $$$, but sometimes… Read more >

The Natural Cafe

It’s a rough life – enjoying good food, good celebrating, good(ish) soccer and more in Santa Barbara, and the fun just keeps on coming… The day after my sis’ graduation we woke up bright and early to go on a hike.  Our friend took us on the Cold Springs Trail in Montecito.  The fact that we managed to escape without any poison ivy (I was a tank-top and shorts wearing daredevil idiot) was a semi-miracle.  It was a fun, leisurely 1 1/2 hour hike with great views.  Afterwards we lunched it up at The Natural… Read more >

Santa Barbara

After spending time relaxing in Monterey, we packed back up and headed down south…off to Santa Barbara! I was driving so my personal hand model Kyle snapped this picture for me. What is Mondeo?  I’m still not quite sure… As far as I could tell the restaurant had meal concepts (for lack of a better… Read more >

(more) Monterey munchies

While my previous Monterey post mainly featured our B&B and the Aquarium, I know I alluded to a few good meals, so I figured I should go into some detail about those…I mean The Old Monterey Inn is definitely worthy of being highlighted, but this is a food blog after all. First, and most importantly, the caffeine. Plumes Coffee won my heart over with their insanely extensive coffee selection. Ree-dik I ordered the Kona coffee (which was the most $$$ by the way), while Kyle got Steve’s Smooth French.  His was the brew of the… Read more >

Monterey

Oh man, have I been living the dream!  As I previously mentioned, Kyle and I have been (blissfully) adding more mileage to our new civic this past week… We worked our way down the state, stopping in Monterey for a few days before settling in Santa Barbara for a few more. We stayed at the CUTEST B&B in Monterey called Old Monterey Inn.  Have you ever stayed at a Bed & Breakfast?  I loved everything from the decor (we were in “The Library”) to the fireplace to the happy hour (with chocolates and pistachios) to… Read more >
