Home for the Holidays Two-a-day

12/22/12 Kyle and I met up with Alene for brunch breakfast (it was 9 am). We went to a Lafayette classic, Millie’s. I grew up going here before school and for friends’ birthdays and for various home-for-the-holidays reunions with friends. It’s not remarkable in any way, but it’s become a brunch standard famous for their coffee cake (I’m pretty sure it’s just Krusteaz, but they top it with a pat of butter that makes it extra delicious). Anyway, I got eggs, hash browns and toast (nothing revolutionary) but it was more about the company than… Read more >

Home for the Holidays Two-a-day

12/21/12 Well, the end of the world didn’t come.  Hooray! All of Friday was pretty much devoted to helping my mom prep for their holiday party.  Once breakfast was out of the way (savory oats with nooch, eggs, and avocado) I set to work on cooking, baking, and cooking some more…until 5:30 pm.  Such a slave driver!   I made date nut balls so there was a vegan (and raw) option at the party (aside from the Sabra and veggies).  In the end, we had a ton of yummy food, which I may post about… Read more >

New hazards in the grocery store

What do we have here?  Can you see what’s in there or do I need to zoom in for you.   Oh hello there hippie bowl of yum. I cheated on the protein portion.  Normally I make my own seitan.  But I had to go to the co-op for an emergency purchase (almond milk) and ended up leaving with two impulse buys.  Dang it!  Budget fail.  I’ve seen Upton’s Natural seitan on other blogs before, but never in the store.  Or maybe I just wasn’t looking.  Either way I found it now, and they have… Read more >

Home for the Holidays Two-a-day

12/20/12 Thursday in Nor Cal started nice and lazy…for me.  Kyle was up and off to San Jose for a business meeting at 7 am after only 5 hours of sleep.  I didn’t have anything to do until a 1 pm date at the Walnut Creek Police Department.  No, I didn’t get in trouble for anything.  I figured (and was definitely correct) that it would be far easier to get an appointment to have our car seat installation checked in the suburbs of the Bay Area than Los Angeles.    In continuing the two-a-day challenge,… Read more >

Home for the Holidays Two-a-day

12/19/12 “There’s no place like home for the holidays.” So I decided while I was home to limit my time behind the lens and just soak everything up.  Family.  Friends.  The Christmas spirit.  All that stuff. Of course I still love blogging and I treat this space like a journal of sorts, so I don’t want to completely disappear because I love looking back on old posts to remember what was going on during that time of my life. So I decided to challenge myself to post just two photos a day. Feel free to… Read more >
