Aloha, we’re out

This is what the last day of vacation looks like…

But outside it was like this.

GORGEOUS.

I got my very last (tear) powabunga bowl.

It was bliss.  Every last bite. Well, I actually only ate half, but I savored it all.

They totally enjoyed the last morning at the pool too.  It’s like they knew they weren’t going to be back and played and played and played.  The best thing about them growing up is the independence it brings.  It’s also the saddest thing.  But for vacations, it’s really made relaxing possible.

After I finished the rest of my acai bowl I dug into the Halo Top.  Who am I?  Vacation Elise is going out with a bang.

Today was Kyle’s turn to get a massage so once the kids woke up from their naps we went out to play at the hotel park (stopping to “play” checkers on the way).

We were going to go out for dinner, but we decided to be mellow and enjoy the Hula show and just get take away from the hotel’s poolside restaurant.  It hasn’t disappointed thus far.

Kyle and I split two mains – the nightly special (a mixed plate with lomi lomi pork, teriyaki chicken, and steak) and the flank steak plate with double rice (instead of macaroni salad).

Kyle wasn’t that hungry, so he gave most of it to me.  I was starving, but I guess that’s what you get when you have lo cal ice cream for lunch.  It was all so so good.

Awesome last meal.

The next morning we were up bright and early to pack up and hit the road.

I had a bomb.com bar and maca ball packed for the flight as well as some snacks.

And thanks to the iPad and tablet the flight was a breeze.

I even watched a movie!

The kids did great, but nap-less Valley is not my fave.  Anyway, we had no food in the house and it was 8 pm so we went to Nugget for dinner and just ate there.

The best part about flying back on a Friday is it gives you the weekend to get things settled.  We didn’t get to bed until 1 am but whatever.  We had 16 days in Hawaii.  Nothing can get me down now.

I’m so surprised the halo top didn’t kill your stomach! Between the dairy and various sugar alcohols i’ve been too afraid to try it (and it’s like $6 a pint here!)
Very exciting to go for a massage :)) there’s a great cheap thai massage place i go to a few times a year (it’s more painful than not, they do some crazy elbow digging but i’m a new person two days later), but a proper relaxing spa massage is hard to beat.
Good call on the plane snacks.

Right?!?!? My IBS is a total mystery some times. It’s just too bizarre. But then other times it’s totally predictable and keeping low fodmaps lets me feel almost *normal* so it’s just impossibly annoying to keep track of. That’s why every once in a while if I feel like pizza or whatever I try to let myself go for it reminding myself that it wont be the end of the world and I now know how to get back to feeling good again.
The painful stuff hurts so gooooooood!
