Amazing snack smoothie

It’s raining and I’m showing a cold smoothie.   Hmmm…

Sometimes you just crave them.  Actually that’s not true with me.  I always think they look good when others make them, but I never think to make them on my own.  Whenever I’m searching for some sort of afternoon pick-me-up snack, I forget about smoothies.

But lately I’ve been at a loss when it comes to allergy friendly snacks.  Hence the smoothie.

Without nuts, sesame, soy, and wheat I feel…constricted.  I used to grab bars or trail mix when I needed something on the go; and if I had time to sit and snack it was always hummus with veggies or nut butter with crackers.

So now I’m going to have to be better about planning in advance.  I’ll have to make my own hummus (with avocado or olive oil instead of tahini) and my own trail mix and bars (with oats and seeds).  This is all a learning process.  I hope I’m not sounding whiny because I don’t mean to complain, I’m just pointing out things as I process them.  And of course, if any of you have suggestions, I’m all ears!!

I have lots of seedy protein powder ball ideas in my head, but in the meantime, smoothies are filling the gap.

This is kinda like a chocolate milkshake with greens.  You can definitely taste the greens, but it’s one of those things that you get used to…and after a certain amount of time, you stop tasting it altogether.  Personally, I love that grassy, earthy flavor.  If that’s not your thing, add more banana or some nut butter.

Look at all those nutrients!  Can you believe it’s not only delicious but healthy too?!?!

Do u use lite or full fat coconut milk? And is this one serving?

OOOH! I could not live without my mid-day smoothie! I freeze my bananas so I get a milk-shake texture — makes it feel so sinful even though it’s perfectly fine. 🙂

into the blender I throw: 1 chopped frozen banana, unsweetened vanilla almond milk to the 16oz mark, 2 tbsp ground flax seed, 1 tsp roasted carob powder, 2 tbsp raw unfiltered honey. Blend until smooth (about 30 seconds).

Sometimes I throw in a handful of frozen blueberries, or whatever other fruit I have lying around. I’ve done it with a little kale in it, but honestly I’m looking for sweet in the middle of the day, so I don’t.

Obviously it doesn’t really matter what kind of milk you use, I just use almond because I like the flavor of it and it’s low calorie.

we ALWAYS have frozen bananas in the freezer for that very reason. and frozen greens too – i loooove kale or spinach in my smoothies. almost all of them have been that way lately. I’m in an afternoon smoothie phase for sure. I used to do almond too, but now I’m on the coconut train, full steam ahead!

i either use lite or i buy the full fat and then water it down. so either way, its not fully concentrated coconut milk.

Ooh! I’ve never frozen greens! I will try it!

Also glad to hear im not the only one with a freezer full of frozen bananas. My husband always asks, “are you really going to use all of those?” Yes!!!

It’s been near or below zero here where I live for weeks, but I had a smoothie with ginger the other day and it really hit the spot! Ginger is perfect for cold weather.

So I tried quite a few of these, and I absolutely love the vanilla chai meal replacement. I just mixed it with water when I was visiting my parents and I was able to drink it straight up, with no weird grassy after-taste, but it’s even better with a frozen banana.

I love Amazing Meal! So, does the wheat and barley grass in it not upset you (FODMAPS) or Baby P? Just curious, as I am also low FODMAP but have been wondering if the grasses in the Amazing Meal have been the cause of some recent GI upset I’ve been having…I’ve gotten multiple answers when trying to figure out if wheat and barley grasses are in fact safe for someone with allergies/sensitivities.

I lovelovelovelove amazing meal! Vanilla is my favorite…. I can’t believe how much nutrition is in there. I’m also a huge fan of their greens supplement, i just mix it into lemon seltzer on the days i don’t have green juice. The “orange dreamcicle” flavor is the best- the plain one tastes like lawn!

More spicy. It’s energising and a recipe from Victoria’s angel Doutzen’s sister (she has really good ideas about healthfood).
1 banana, 150 ml “milk”, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 tablespoon coconutoil, 1 teaspoon curcuma, 1 teaspoon black pepper, a handfull of gojiberries. And… mix it. It’s yummie.
I could add the link, but i doubt you could read it, no offence.
