Australia: Bondi and back

Sunday was our last (full) day in Sydney šŸ™   We slept in a bit and after feeding P, drove over to Bronte for brunch.  Bogey Hole was one of several cute looking cafes on the main street along the beach front.  They were all pretty packed but after a short wait we were able to snag a spot outside that fit us all, including a very fussy P in his stroller. Kyle got a banana smoothie and toast with jam.  I think we were all feeling a bit blah from the previous night. Laura… Read more >

Australia: Zoo fun

The weekend arrived and we were finally able to go out with all four of us again.  Saturday started with a nice brunch at Cafe Indigo.  It is clearly THE spot in Double Bay.   Kyle got the blueberry pancakes (above) and I got my sisterā€™s fave, the breakfast bruscetta (below). My sister got a new (to her) order, which looks very similar to the salmon benedict but has avocado instead of hollandaise.   P fell asleep in the stroller at lunch so I cut out a bit early to go back home and put… Read more >

Australia: Coogee and Bondi

Laura took a half day on Friday so after our morning routine she came home and we hit the road.  Off to Coogee! She used to live in Coogee (first in 2007 and then again in 2012 when she returned to Oz before she moved to her current place).  So she knows the area quite well.  She cheated on her former employer (Coogee Cafe) and took us to Globe Fine Food & Coffee.   She warned us that the service wasnā€™t amazing, but the food was.  Plus it was on a cute street that had… Read more >

Australia: Sushi night

Wednesday morning was pretty much the same – family walk to the store to get eggs and bananas, then we cooked and played with P until his morning nap. We tried to hit up Bird and Bear Boathouse for lunch (a place that I read several great reviews about) but once we got there we found out they weren’t serving food, just coffee and cookies.  It looked like a great place to sip coffee with pretty views but we needed more than cookies to tide us over.  It was a hike getting there from Double… Read more >

Australia: a balloon welcome!

Best airport greeting! [photo collage borrowed from my sisterā€™s IG] Auntie Laura knows her nephew well because she brought a balloon to the airport for him and it was basically the best thing ever. He didnā€™t care about anything else once it was in his hands.Ā  Vacation on. It’s hard to know where the first day technically starts since it was a 24 hour travel extravaganza followed by a full day upon arrival.Ā  We left on Wednesday and arrived Friday morning and it was about what you’d expect as far as flying with a one… Read more >
