After work Alias

What’s up buttercup?  TGIF much?  I did OT yesterday because my boss is putting full court press on my a$$.  Working overtime can go one of two ways, and they happen to be polar opposites.  Fortunately, picking up this extra shift did not backfire in my face.  It’s amazing how much more enjoyable work is when the unit is adequately staffed and I can actually spend time with my patients without feeling like I’m hours behind in work (novel concept huh?).  My boss is not the best when it comes to the business-minded side of… Read more >

salad challenge end

Rise and shine!  It’s coffee time.    I wasn’t as sore today as I thought I’d be…in fact, aside from my hammies and glutes I was feeling pretty great.  I still decided to milk it (why not), so I scheduled a post-race massage for this evening.  I broke the fast with a peach chobz, an apple, and dried pineapple rings while watching last night’s Brothers & Sisters and reading blogs.   I loved reading all your supportive comments regarding my race (and my struggle to push through the pain).  It meant a lot to me… Read more >

sunny weekend

I LOVE warm weather.  And being that this was the first nice weekend we New Yorkers have had this season, I decided to take advantage.  Obviously, I wasn’t the only one with this brilliant idea…apparently the rest of New York was on the same wavelength. I wish I had a photo of Central Park…the great lawn was PACKED like nothing I’ve ever seen.  Not an INCH to spare! “Not an square to spare.” – anyone? AM Montage: frothy java, chobz, & coconut date rolls I went on a supah long run in the Park before… Read more >

popped my TJ cherry

I finally made it to the only Trader Joe’s in Manhattan.  Seriously, I’ve been doing walk-bys for months now (it is RIGHT next to work after all) and each time I venture close, I chicken out when I see the line.  You would think that having a line out the door every day of the week would clue them in to maybe open another store, but I guess not everyone is as business savvy as I am (right?).  Ok, but let me back the eff up to the beginning of the day. SBUX in the… Read more >

living like a grown up

The day after my birthday I had to work, so it was back to reality. The C pod was super mega patient overload (to quote black rob, it was “like whoa”). Each patient was so heavy, there should have been 5 more nurses at least, but of course there were just two of us left to hold down the fort. The day started off with a nice starbucks soy misto, but since I was running around like a mad woman all morning, my stomach was growling by 9 and eating itself by 10. Thank the… Read more >
