Our first weekend back in LA

It’s so weird that we haven’t been back to LA since we left back in April.  We’ve seen several of our so cal friends since but not all of them so we decided to pop in for a quick visit. Honestly, we’ve been trying to squeeze a weekend in since this past fall, but then all this (good) stuff was happening with Kyle’s business…and then the holidays came along…and you know how it goes… But we finally got this in the calendar and what a fun time it was! Now.  As much as I adore… Read more >

My everyday life

This is a small snack.  The “before” photo is so clean.  Let me tell you, persimmons make one hell of an “after” photo.  Like a blood bath!   Naps are complicated.  When they happen, I’m on cloud 9.   Lunch in peace and quiet.  That’s nearly a whole bag of TJ’s lacinato kale by the way.  Tossed with quinoa and coated in creamy broccoli soup. We put up our tree and hung our stockings.  P loves all of it.  He says “de” and points to all the things.  He wants to communicate so badly. I… Read more >

Checklist fun

Who doesn’t love a nice organized to-do list? This past week was a little different because Kyle was out of town a few nights working.  But he came home to sleep a little bit in between (night shifts).  And he wanted me to pack all his food so he wouldn’t eat crap on the road.  Hence the need for a very mapped out menu.  I can’t stay organized without it all written out nowadays.  My head is too full of other crap (like the tune to head shoulders knees and toes…make it go away!). Breakfast… Read more >

Sriracha brussels & quinoa

There’s nothing I love more than being gifted food.  I’m a simple girl foodie. Seriously.  To all the people reading this who plan on buying me presents in the future, take note.  [Crickets] My mother in law actually traveled with Brussels sprouts in her luggage.  And then left them with me. Ummm…I’m not sure who’s the bigger weirdo in this scenario…her for bringing produce as a carry-on, or me for being over the moon about it…close call. I think Brussels sprouts are delish.  I think people who don’t like them (ahem, Kyle) are close-minded losers… Read more >

Home for the Holidays behind the scenes

I was going to call this sights unseen, but I took photos, so obviously it CAN be seen! Here are a few things that didn’t quite deserve a spot in the two-a-day challenge, but were still worth sharing. Snack of vegan and gluten free champs.  Mary’s Gone Crackers and Daiya cheddar wedge. Runner up snack: La Boulange bread with avocado and salt.   Dad showing his Sabra love.  Balsamic Brussels (for the Christmas Eve caroling party). My parents’ freezer (aka proof of where I get my OCD tendencies and caffeine addiction).  They’re Peet’s devotees, particularly… Read more >
