Jamie Oliver’s nightmare

As Kyle and I attempt to empty our fridge and freezer before moving, I have discovered both the pros & cons of pre-packaged meals.  Pro:  Mindless, easy prep (box –> plate? even a caveman Kyle can do that) Con: Stipation (where the greens at, yo?) Ok, we aren’t eating ONLY thawed sh!t… I still had some odds and ends that I pulled together for a salad, which included the raw One Lucky Duck Rosemary quackers I bought last week. I sampled a few with hummus and they were pretty tasty.  My only issue was that… Read more >

Am I behind?

Yes!  About 4 days behind.  I showed you all my eats throughout the day, but no dinners.  So, I guess I have some blogging to do, huh?  But before I get to that, thank you all SO much for your kind comments about my past few days at work.  I was a little nervous about writing a more emotional post about my job (and not food), but the comments that flooded after proved I had nothing to worry about.  So thank you thank you thank you 🙂 Moving on.  Guess what today is!?!  Give up?… Read more >

Work day = Packed lunch.  Sometimes I feel like I’m the only person who brings lunch to work.  I don’t get it!?  There are a few things that baffle me about this, the first being the price of buying food on a daily basis.  Sure, I can understand a treat once in a while, but every day?  That adds up!  Second, I don’t understand how people can leave their house without any preparation should they get hungry.  I know I have a job unlike most other people.  I don’t have the luxury of choosing when… Read more >

eye bee ess

Yes.  I have it.  And although flair ups have been minimal since I’ve been vegan, I DO still have days when I feel like caca (ironically, from the absence of it).  TMI?  Sorry. Usually these days are brought on by stress, and as much as I try to avoid it (with my nice planned out schedules), sometimes life throws a wrench in it.  Unavoidable.  Deal. This weekend, with my 3 shifts in a row schedule, I had to make like Tim Gunn and “make it work.” Comfort foods, aplenty. Review: not too shabby in a… Read more >

The Laws of Thermodynamics

The first law of thermodynamics states that heat is a form of energy, which can be transferred, but never created nor destroyed. The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of the universe always increases. The third law of thermodynamics implies that it is impossible to cool a system all the way to exactly absolute zero. Sure, it may seem weird to start a post with a science lesson, but like most other things in life, it can also be applied to food… 1.  Heat is a form of energy?!  Hell yeah it is!… Read more >
