All over So Cal

This weekend Kyle and I visited my G-ma in Newport Beach, went to a friend’s baby shower in Fullerton, attended a wedding in Temecula, and stayed with Kyle’s parents in San Clemente.  If you do the math, that’s over 300 miles of driving (6+ hours!!!). Check out how fun this looks. Just our luck – gas prices reached $5.50 per gallon this weekend!  Isn’t that fabulous?  Of course record breaking fuel prices would coincide with such a jam packed weekend on the road. Anyway.  Sarcasm aside, it was pretty awesome to see so many family… Read more >

Who what when?

I am ALL out of sorts.  Yesterday (?) I went to bed around noon thinking I’d sleep til 5 and then get ready to head back in to work.  How’d that work out?? Yeah.  Not so much. I ended up watching the latest episode of Glee (check out the creepy scene I paused it on) after tossing and turning in bed.  It’s hard to sleep when it’s light out and my body is all jacked up on caffeine.  I realize a mega caffeine Starbucks order wasn’t the wisest choice after being awake for 24 consecutive… Read more >

Garden Therapy

Moving back to CA, one of the things I was most looking forward to was having a balcony.  A balcony allows me to have two very important things: 1) a BBQ 2) a garden Ok, it’s not quite a garden, yet.  But it’s getting there… As an early birthday present from my in-laws, I got organic rosemary, basil, and thyme to give my green thumb a jump start.  Since it was raining the other day, I was in a zen kind of mood.  I blasted classical music on the iHome and got to work repotting… Read more >

Bruins, birthdays, and BBQs

Saturday was sponsored by the letter “b” apparently.  Kyle and I woke up at 7 am to get in a morning jog.  I hate working out early in the AM, but I love how it frees up the rest of the day.  So conflicting.  The reason I don’t like rise-and-shine cardio is because I suck at it.  I’m slow in the mornings.  I don’t really start to function until an hour (or two, if I’m being honest) after I’ve been awake.  The route I took Saturday morning typically takes me 24 minutes (when I do… Read more >

The Laws of Thermodynamics

The first law of thermodynamics states that heat is a form of energy, which can be transferred, but never created nor destroyed. The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of the universe always increases. The third law of thermodynamics implies that it is impossible to cool a system all the way to exactly absolute zero. Sure, it may seem weird to start a post with a science lesson, but like most other things in life, it can also be applied to food… 1.  Heat is a form of energy?!  Hell yeah it is!… Read more >
