Indian food

What I Ate Thursday [Thanksgiving]

There was a lot of food in the house on Thursday.  And the Wednesday before.  Actually, the Tuesday before too!  We set off for my parents’ house after I got my hair cut (finally!!!) on Tuesday evening, so by the time we got there P’s bed time had come and gone and he was not thrilled in the least.  Fussy pants was quickly soothed by the heaps of attention he received once more relatives arrived.  Family! The house was jam packed with people, so the 3 of us shared a room which meant sneaking in… Read more >

A few prepared meals (not by me)

I’ve been a kinda pathetic wife.  At least in the cooking department. Last week I was so busy working I didn’t cook us anything.  Yes, I work nights.  So in theory I could cook us food.  If I had my head on straight.  Which I didn’t. Frozen food to the rescue! Tandoor Chef makes a few veg friendly products and I had a coupon for one, so I let Kyle enjoy the blog perk. His review of the vegetable pad thai: delicious, but not enough for an adult male; just the right amount of greasy;… Read more >

The weekly menu

Sunday Tofu Caesar Salad Totally gonna be a regular from now on.  Easy peasy and deeeelish. Monday Cabbage & Green Chickpea Curry with brown rice Kyle requested this.  He wanted cabbage specifically.  Turns out, cabbage is cheap.  The other ingredients were things we had on hand already – including frozen green chickpeas (365 brand) and carrots. I made a slurry of sauce with the same curry paste I used here (Patak’s brand) with plain greek yogurt (Chobani 2%).   Then I added the veg and waited for the cabbage to wilt. Served it up over… Read more >

I repeat, no work this weekend

I was off this weekend (which is abnormal since I was also off last weekend and I usually have an every other schedule).  So exciting!!   Saturday morning.  Frothy mocha flavored milk.  Home-made bread.  Toasted to oblivion.  Buttered up the yin yang.  Fried egg on the side. Farmer’s market. Restoration Hardware baby & child grand opening.  They have a dresser named after me (too bad these are all too expensive).  Need to hit up some garage sales asap. College football. Lunch.  Breakfast grain mix.  Seitan.  Carrots.  Nutritional yeast. Snack.  Sabra spinach & artichoke hummus.  Carrots…. Read more >

Pantry & freezer made food

I’m in the process of trying to clean out the freezer and use up things that I’ve been storing since 2010.  Which includes some frozen meals that I got long ago with various coupons.  Side note: Now I know why I don’t buy frozen meals…I forget about them! This red curry with vegetables (with tofu and rice) is by Sukhi’s, a company that’s based in the Bay Area, and has numerous other products I like (ie the naanwich). Anyway, the ingredients list is one I approve of, with all real foods and spices I… Read more >
