A weekend of firsts

This past weekend was the first time in a couple of years that I skipped Expo West.  I had a ticket and everything, but I just didn’t see the point in trying to make it work.  I guess this is evidence that my priorities have shifted.  I like free samples and keeping on pulse with the latest natural food trends, but I like family bonding time more.  Lucky for me, my in-laws were there to scout out the scene in my absence.  They reported back and then some…with tons of samples for me to review. … Read more >

DC: LPQ

I was wet.  I was cold.  I was tired.  I was in the mood for something familiar. And so Kyle and I went across the street to Le Pain Quotidien, a bakery and cafe with a veg friendly menu that I already know and love. DC: Identity Crisis

Let me first start out by saying, I’m not usually a good liar.  In fact, I have a pretty hard time holding a secret for longer than a minute.  Kyle has learned this the hard way, and as a result, he rarely shares top secret stuff with me (friends’ impending engagements, etc.).  I’m not a gossip, I just like sharing information!  Let that be a lesson to everyone.  So.  Backing up to Thursday.  Our flight was set to take off around 1 pm, so Kyle and I woke up early, ate breakfast, finished some last… Read more >

DC preview

Thursday through Monday I was in our nation’s capital.    Some of the highlights (full stories to come): 1. If anyone is traveling through LAX or DCA in the near future, you may see my photo posted on a wanted sign.  I broke bent the law and as much as I want to tell you all about it, I should probably speak to my lawyer before I post anything on the internet.  😉 Ok, I’m just kidding.  What happened was I forgot to bring my wallet with me – including my ID – and had… Read more >

Daily bread

One last run in Central Park.  That’s how Kyle and I spent our morning before we said goodbye to the big apple.  I actually ended up pulling a weird groin muscle on the run, but let’s just pretend it was all hunky-dory and nicely bookended our trip.  Post-cardio, we showered, checked out of the hotel, and hit up Le Pain Quotidien for brunch.    In case you were wondering, Le Pain Quotidien translates to "the daily bread."  Mastering the pronunciation, on the other hand, is not my area of expertise.  Their website offered little help… Read more >
