All about hemp milk

Obviously I didn’t invent hemp milk, so this post is not going to be super detailed on the tutorial end, however, I did do lots of research about hemp seed sources that I think could be helpful to have all in one place for others.  Since many companies that package/manufacture/sell hemp seeds also package/manufacture/sell nuts (and other allergens) I wanted to contact as many as I could to find out the details on their standards of co-packing.  There were a few who didn’t respond to my email, which I indicate below, but the rest were very… Read more >

Did you know that meatout is the world’s largest grassroots diet education campaign?    And every year, on March 20th thousands of people encourage their friends, families, and communities to "kick the meat habit” and explore a wholesome, compassionate diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.  The campaign started back in 1985 and has grown tremendously since then.  Check out the success they had in 2011!  The 2012 goal of meatout is to distribute free vegan food samples to 30,000 people.    My own personal goal in promoting a plant based diet is proving that… Read more >

Pancake afternoons

I like to make more luxurious breakfasts for myself on the days that I work night shift.    I try and sleep in as long as possible and make breakfast fare later in the day as a means of tricking myself into thinking it’s early in the day (when it’s actually the afternoon).  That way it doesn’t seem to bizarre going to work in the evening.  It’s silly, but it’s what I do.    Today I made pancakes, which I topped in chocolate peanut sauce and maple syrup.   Thanks to Bob’s Red Mill and… Read more >

Full Friday

Forget this Black Friday business, I’m too stuffed to function. I am actually having a hard time looking at the food photos I have from Thanksgiving…but the pictures of the kiddos…I could look at those all day.   It may be a while before I can comfortably post Thursday’s meal(s), but I have pre-feast work food to share.   First up, a peanut flour/oat breakfast.    In addition to oats and peanut flour, I stirred in some home-made granola and chia seeds as well.  Sometimes my breakfast bowls look semi-watery and I occasionally get questions… Read more >
