Wedding, Beach & Tennis

What a weekend. It all started with a Friday wedding. Ok, actually it all started with a really awesome breakfast.   Oats topped in a perfectly fried egg and avocado. Kyle came home from work early, so I got to eat lunch with him, which was a nice change in routine. I had Amy’s golden lentil soup.  It was stellar!  I have already gone to the store to get another can, that’s how much I loved it.  I think this is now the best Amy’s soup I’ve ever tried. On the side I had carrots… Read more >

DC: Cafe Green

Last morning in DC started with the usual waffle run. Then we said goodbye to Kyle’s dad and headed to the National Geogrpahic museum. Kyle and I are total Nat Geo nerds, and when I found out they had a special Titanic exhibit I was dead set on seeing it. They had a ton of stuff from the movie set, lots of footage of interviews from the divers who first found the wreckage, and a video recreation of the ship going down. I never knew James Cameron was a deep sea explorer.  Not only has… Read more >

Buns of steel

Since I’m babysitting today, here’s a post with last week’s food that I have been meaning to get up for a while.  Enjoy! A while ago Foodbuzz hooked it up.  I received three kinds of Nature’s Pride buns to test out, and my family was on board to help. Fluffy carbs 🙂 Here’ are the stats: And here’s how they were consumed: Meal #1 Dr. Praeger’s veggie burger on Nature’s Pride Country White bun with avocado and tomato [half a baked potato with Soy-Sation cheese on top]. Meal #2 Repeat. Meal #3 (Dad’s) double down… Read more >

A sad salad kind of day

Do you see the problem here? I don’t know WHAT I was thinking when I was packing this food up…clearly there was no shot in hell that this amount of food would tide me over for my entire 12 hour shift.  Salad? Check. Apples? Double check. Pretz/carob/raisins? Check.  Drank? Check. And yet, all those goodies weren’t even close to enough food…by my 2 pm lunch break I was left with nothing but my ensalada.  Where the bars at, yo?!?! Indeed, supplementation was very necessary (see below).   I bought this big a$$ tub of nuts/carob… Read more >

Sunshine, don’t go away

As far as weekends go, this was pretty damn near perfect.  It started with a 10 am wake up call (sleep in much?), and then a bit of coffee loading.  Since it was a GORGEOUS 40+ degrees outside, Kyle and I wanted to get our faces in the sun asap.  So, after snacking on one (and a half) of my chia seed oat bars, we set out for a run in the park.  I can’t even tell you how long I have been waiting to feel the road beneath my feet.  The treadmill just hasn’t… Read more >
