Faz!

While home, Kyle and I made more headway with the wedding planning, including research for our rehearsal dinner.

FAZ is a cute Mediterranean restaurant with amazing food, classy ambiance, open atmosphere, and YES, those are trees inside!  Anything green gets the thumbs up from this girl hippie.

After we checked out the space, they treated us to dinner.  Fabulous!

IMG_6663

We started with brick oven flat bread and rosemary foccacia fresh from the oven.  It was warm, fluffy and heavenly.  Kyle dipped his in the seasoned oil & vinegar with parmesan sprinkled in it.

IMG_6664IMG_6665

Then we each got a salad.  Mine (on the left) was the Garden Greens salad with organic baby greens, cucumber, tomato and red onion with a pomegranate vinaigrette.  Kyle’s (on the right) was the Iceberg Lettuce Wedge salad with gorgonzola dressing, toy box tomatoes, bacon crisps and a hard boiled egg.  Both were excellent.

For my main course I got the Mediterranean Combination Platter.  This included Babaghanoush, Tabouleh, Grape Leaf Dolmas, Hummus, Imported Olives Marinated in Zest and Herbs with Marinated Tomatoes and Feta.

It’s hard to tell how big this was from the photo, but suffice it to say, there were leftovers for meals and meals after I had stuffed myself to the brim.  I can’t even describe how awesome the Babaghanoush was.  I think I was meant to live in the Mediterranean.  Clearly, I have a bit of a hummus addiction, so it’s not surprising that Faz’ fresh made hummus rocked my world, but it was the Babaganoush that stole the show.  Hands down, it was my fave part of the platter.  The richness and creamy yet chunky and hearty texture was out. of. control. good.

Kyle ordered the Duck special with Basmati rice and Green Beans.

IMG_6667

Not too shabby looking, if I do say so myself.  And there was nary a grain of rice left when he was finished, so it seems he enjoyed the meal.

I know they were probably going above and beyond to impress us, but the service was impeccable.  Everything came out so promptly and tasted so fresh.  T’was perfection.  Can’t wait for this place to host the second-best-day-of-my-life (assuming our actual wedding day takes the #1 spot of course)!

Of course I took the copious amount of leftovers home…plus a TON of extra flat bread.

Dear Faz, I love you!  The following day, I snack-faced from AM to PM ‘til my red-eye flight…

IMG_6676IMG_6677

Picture this times 10.  There were a few (ahem, very few) non-Mediterranean eats, too.

IMG_6640IMG_6645IMG_6644

Apples with cinn.             Voskos greek yog.             TJ’s granola.

IMG_6646

If you haven’t tried Trader Joe’s Granola & the 3 Berries, go on and ‘git some.  The cute name is only one of the many many reasons it’s super awesome.

IMG_6647IMG_6648

It was hard to believe this granola wasn’t home-made it was so crunchy with a subtle sweetness and delish berry flavor flaaaave…I tossed it in greek yog and added in some fresh bloobs.

IMG_6668

When you find the winning combo…don’t let it get away ;)

IMG_6652IMG_6678

In between bowls of granola, plates of hummus, and cups of tea, I putzed around the casa, took the doggies for a walk, watched season 1 of True Blood, and did more wedding shenanigans.  How cute is Kona lounging in the background?  I wore those puppies OUT!

IMG_6682IMG_6627

I was hardly hungry before leaving for my flight, but I knew I should eat at home or I’d be paying $50 for an apple at the airport.  Salad with beets and orange slicesLeftover grilled veggies.  Juicy purple tomatoes

IMG_6632IMG_6631

There was some drank involved too.  This Cab was nearly older than I!

As you can imagine, the flight back to NYC was less than stellar.  Nothing like being greeted with 20 degree weather.  Awesome.

Looks like you found a winning place to have the rehearsal dinner! I freaking love babaganoush! I just made some yesterday, actually…yum :-)

I am seriously drooling over your tomato pic…omg. Tomatoes in MN in Jan leave much to be desired, but that one looks fantastic! Damn CA and its local fresh produce!

Is that standard practice to be treated at a restaurant you plan to book??? I LOVE that idea. Everything looks amazing and nothing beats a mediterranean platter. MMM. I just got hooked up with a gift certificate to an amazing looking restaurant and my name is all over that very platter.

no idea…makes you wanna go around and milk it at several restaurants huh? of course, then comes the awkward let down when you say “just kidding!!” and book somewhere else…so maybe thats not the best idea, then?

What a perfect spot for your rehearsal dinner! Everything looks wonderful inside and especially the food- is this the food you were planning on serving the night of? Who couldn’t be happy with that amount of snack-attack?!?

we will probably serve the med platter i got at the rehearsal dinner, along with several other courses. it will be social apps/drinks followed by a sit down dinner with 3 courses (with a couple of options for each).

i’d say it’s tied with Chobz as my fave. i don’t like oikos at all. other than that, im pretty much a fan of all the plain flavored greek yogurts.
