Full day

Full of errands, full of food, full of activity, full of sun, full of living.

How else would I start the day?

IMG_8122IMG_8332

Alongside the apple was a new green monster blend.  I double fisted it with the spinach, which is why it turned out such a pretty color.  The other ingreds included a whole frozen banana, 1/4 block silken tofu, ice, ice and more ice.

IMG_8333

It looked neon in person, but isn’t quite as bright in the photo.  Ah well, just take my word for it – ‘twas muy verde.

After getting errands done around town, I returned home for lunch.

For some random reason I decided to purchase this Wild Wood Aloha Baked tofu on my last WF trip.  Impulse buy for sure.  It’s a rarity that over-priced, over-processed soy products make their way into my cart, so I won’t bother with excuses.  Whatever.  Sometimes it’s nice to spend 21.6 seconds on a meal’s assembly.

IMG_8341IMG_8342

I realize the lighting makes it look like I’m holding the tofu before the gates of heaven, but what can ya do?

I chopped it up and added it to some steamed (and chilled) edamame and corn.

IMG_8343

I had two bowls because my appetite was in full effect.

IMG_8345

Soy-licious.

IMG_8340

After lunch I kicked my feet up with a crossword and a Trilogy Kombucha

By the way, look at the bottom of my feet from all my AM errands.

IMG_8331

Is it gross that I took that pic or that I posted it?  You can say both.

No worries, I have the most amazing foot scrub/exfoliant – which is a MAYJ blessing in summah time.

After lunch, I headed across town to get new running shoes, which I immediately laced up for a test run.

IMG_8348

This is turning into quite a foot heavy post…

Since I had already logged nearly 7 miles of walking, I decided 3 miles was a perfectly acceptable distance to run.  And it felt great.

IMG_8351

After my run, I rehydrated in one of the worst (but tastiest) possible ways.  I made iced coffee (in my Starbucks travel mug that looks just like a real Starbucks cup).  The word you’re looking for is obsessed.  What can I say, I love my crack Starbucks.

I added a lot of NuNaturals’ vanilla stevia and So Delicious’ coconut creamer

IMG_8352

La cena.

Part 1: carrots, delicata squash & raisins.

IMG_8353

Part 2: millet, avocado, & pepitas.

IMG_8354

Moan.

This was AH. MAZE.

IMG_8358

I had seconds and thirds because it was too divine to not finish.  If you haven’t tried millet, you are missing out.  And if you want to ‘gasm in your mouth, try it with mashed up avo and a touch of salt.  You will thank me.

And if you are wondering where I managed to find a delicata, my lips are sealed, because it was a SCORE of a discovery.  A diamond in the rough of NY markets if you will.  I hoarded the last two yellow ones, and snagged a white one too.  🙂

Okay. Now i am just angry. You and your stupid delicious looking Delicatas. One day i will find one, and dedicate an ENTIRE post towards it and the fact that i found one and you didn’t! 😉 You think i’m kidding… At least fill me in on the taste? I am impressed with your millet-avo creation, i have some millet but no avos. Grocery stop at WF tomorrow is in order so i believe i will come home broke and full o’ good produce! Your shoes are so nice, i am liking the style! Glad you like em so much!

  2. molly @fuelherup

I wear those running shoes! Guess that means we’re soul mates 😉

  3. Tracie @hollafoodzone

I’ve never tried millet before – if it’s as good as you say I might! I guess I could make a big deal about your feet, but mine look exactly like that all summer long so I have no room to talk! I recently came across your blog for the first time – fun read!

  4. Diana

I don’t think I’ve tried millet.. and if I did (it’s entirely possible, I have a bad memory) it was a long time ago! I’ve been definitely feeling curious recently… Must try it!

  5. Candace

I love the color of that smoothie! I think i may have to try out some millet too

  6. welshsarah

I LOVE millet. Seriously. I don’t cook it often enough. Apparently you can soak it for 8 hours (i think) then eat it without cooking. This appeals to lazy me. x

  7. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine

The only downfall of flipflops in the city is the dirt factor. Ick!! Worth it to be wearing sandals, though 🙂 Hope you enjoy this beautiful weather, and happy hump day!!

  8. The Foodie Diaries

  10. MarathonVal

Ahh, so sorry to hear abour your allergic reaction…. I never figured out what caused mine either. I wouldn’t worry unless you found it you were allergic to hummus 😉

  11. feetinmotion

The color of your smoothie is so sweet! Your poor feet 🙁 Aww they are so dirty hahaha.

  12. Angela @ A Healthy Fit

I’ve never tried milled before. I’ve been looking for millet bread, but haven’t found it yet. Anything with avocado has my vote for delicious!

  13. prettyladycmu

I’m with you on the short runs! I managed about 7 miles of walking yesterday and, when I finally made it to the gym, could only muster 3 (slow) miles. I guess walking really can be a workout!

  14. Katie

Are those the Kayanos? They’re my favorite! I just got the blue, too… they’re so new and blindingly white.

I almost bought the same tofu yesterday! Did you like?

  15. maren

FYI there is delicata squash (and kabocha, acorn, butternut, etc etc) at the produce market in Chelsea market!!!!

  16. Gabriela (froyolover)

    Wild Wood Baked Tofu… YUUM!

silken tofu instead of protein powder is a GREAT idea. also, i didn’t think i went to starbucks that much (there is one IN my building), but yesterday, the barista greeted me by name. oops.

  18. Lauren @ Eater not a runner

I want to try millet, that looks so good!

  19. blueeyedheart

I’m hoarding delicata squash, too. 😉 I didn’t know they came in white!!

  20. Donna

Carrots, delicata squash, and raisins and millet, avocado, and pepitas? What a great combination! And seriously, I am trying to give up coffee. But So Delicious French Vanilla coconut milk creamer is making it really difficult. That stuff is soooo good!

  21. Ftiness4Looks

You are making me very interested in trying tofu! It looks delicious!

  22. Kate

Love the pic of your dirty feet. Mine look like that a lot, since I always want to wear flipflops. Dirty feet pride!!!

  23. Graze With Me

Oh ick, I hate when my feet get like that. Nothing some soap and a pumice stone can’t cure. Mine look like that walking around any town but when I was in Vegas a couple years ago, I got the heebes just thinking about what germs might be on my feet.

Look at your calves! Holy muscles, batman.

The millet/avo/pepita bowl is giving me cravings, it looks fantastic. Really, wow.

  24. ellie

Haha…the feet picture cracked me up. Brings back memories of my days spent in flip-flops in the city.

Score on the squash- I was literally squealing today when I found two giant onion squashes. Bought both, of course 😀

  25. ethel

E-Claire! LOL at the “gates of heaven” comment.

Nice calves yo! Way to show foot porn to the peeps with foot fetishes…haha! I’m uber jealous at your new kicks. They’ve got the perfect hint of the blue color hue you and I both admire. I actually went for a run when my tummy felt better yesterday. It only lasted 2miles because a) I swear that the orthotics are the death of my right foot and ankle, but I still haven’t found time to see the Dr., and b) the running may have shaken my tummy up and down some that I just couldn’t carry on with the gurgling.

Job well done you! I’m jealous. And btw, when you move here, I promise you will never have to search high and low for delicata. I believe they are a-plenty at the Asian markets.

  26. janetha

that is my kind of double fisting! and HELLO CALVES OF STEEL.

  27. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga)

i actually PREFER the ice coffees I make at home over out b/c I can slam one real quick (i can turbo drink ice coffee, as in 5 seconds and it’s done!) and that way I can make another one and it didnt just cost me 8 bucks LOL. Plus, i can sweeten/milk it to my standards with the right stuff i have.

Thx for your suppport and yeah, gyms = too many angry beefcake dudes LOL. Not like Im gonna ask them for help! ha

    xoxo

  28. BroccoliHut

Thanks for the tip on millet–I’ve had some in my pantry fo-evah, but I might just have to try your prep method now.

  29. julie

gahhh!! i didn’t get my iced cawfs today and i’m so jealous of your homemade one! is it wrong that my favorite iced coffee is 7-11 columbian hahaha so ghetto. but i’ll take your homemade one.

    delicata secrets!!!

    are we playing tomorrow!?

  30. Katie

I love your dirty feet…haha, it reminds me of romping around barefoot in the summertime. I can’t frekin’ wait. Also, I must try millet.
