Liquid love for my achy heart

Still ailing…aching from head to toe.  Brain, body, pretty much everything.

And I’m really getting sick of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Blah.

Today I had a sneaky chef moment, though.  As my girl Holly says, “sharing is caring” so here you go:

When you’ve hit the wall with carbs and nutbutter (the horror!), but you still have zero desire to eat greens, here’s a delicious way to cheat them into your bod.

PB & Greens Smoothie

  • 3/4 cup almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 shafts of kale, leaves only
  • 3 tbsp smooth peanut butter
  • 3 ice cubes (no more, no less)

This was just the liquid love I needed to get me back in the game…(ish).

If there ever were a smoothie cure for the flu, this would be it.  Straight up.

[Ok, ok, I don’t actually have the flu, I’m just being dramatic]

I am 99.9% sure my symptoms are the side effects of last week’s DTaP shot.  Sure, I’m immune from tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis now, but my birthday week is SUCKING as a result.  I better feel normal by Saturday.

I ALWAYS make green monsters when I’m feeling sick or blah. I swear they perk you right up, especially if you add Amazing Grass!!

    Hope you feel better

Not many people I know still get their veggies when they’re sick so I think you’ve got a bit of an edge ; )

I got the DTaP shot a couple of Friday’s ago along with the 3rd installment of the HPV vaccination and I was down for the count the whole weekend. My head was achy, my arm hurt like freakin crazy and all I wanted to do was sleep. This on top of the fact that I went to the doctor about a possible sprained ankle kept me in bed the whole darn weekend. Hope you feel better soon!

Get well soon!!! Hope your new job is ok. I’d love to hear more about it. I’m in the ED at the mo and LOVE it. Hope you have a great birthday!!! xxx

I’ll write more soon – I promise…I’m still doing mostly non-nursing stuff so it’s not very interesting…but once I get back to it I’ll share all the deets. I’m so glad you like the ED…it’s a rough job, and definitely takes a certain type of person (stud). Not for me, but more power to ya!

Ugh… i can’t tell you how frustrated i am with shots that claim to bring immunity! This is a huge factor in my choice to move into Natural med… But i won’t get into all of that right now, but i do know how you feel as i felt HORRIBLE after my shot last year and could not stand up for an entire day with a 102 fever. Weird coincidence, huh? I would love to hear how you feel about this as a nurse! I am not completely against receiving the shots, but i have read so much conflicting info on the subject that i don’t know what to tell people my opinion is?

I, too, am conflicted…While I think immunity for certain diseases (like whooping cough and polio) are very necessary, the flu shot is something I can’t get behind. Crippling diseases like pertussis, diphtheria, and tetanus are worse than the yucky side effects…sure, it blows, but I can deal for a week of this shiz knowing I wont die from it. However, the flu is ever changing, and unless you are immuno-compromised, it’s not life threatening. So in that case, I refuse it. This is my personal choice of course, but you do hear such horror stories it makes you wonder…I’m not really sure about the tie to autism and I can promise you my kids will still get all their vaccinations because weighing my options, I’ll take almost anything over death from a disease that we have prevention for. Essay much? I’d love to hear your thoughts on natural medicine though. I really wish Western med embraced the combination of the two more…
