Nursing back to health

I feel like I need to play catch up.  As I mentioned in my eco hippie post, I was a bit ill the other day, so my pics were pretty boring.

Here’s a queasy stomach tutorial:

First, drown yourself in tea…

IMG_7312IMG_7834

Then, slowly make your way through as many different carbs as you can get your hands on…

IMG_7814IMG_7813

Natural antioxidants don’t hurt either…

(Thanks to the POM fairy, Ryan, I am stocked for a while, too – score)

Mid-day napping is practically a given…on top of several hours in front of the t.v. (i.e. Top Model marathons, anything on Bravo, and talk shows galore – basically anything that is completely devoid of intellect).

Productivity is not measured by tasks crossed off your to-do list or miles you logged, but rather, if you managed to shower or not.  [Not]

And on sick days, blending a smoothie can be considered “cooking.”

Peaches ‘n cream coconut milk for dinner?  Yeah, it’s fair game.

Unfortunately, I was awake until 3 am with a bottle of sprite at my side…but eventually I fell asleep.

Go-getter that I am, I still set my alarm, so I didn’t waste another day off.  What’s the point of non-freezing weather and no work if I am too sick to leave the apartment?  Luckily, today I woke up feeling way better.

Like I mentioned, it was still a coffee-less morning (I told you I was sick!!).  I had some Tazo chai tea and then the lunch I posted here

After lunch I dessert-ed on almonds, carob chips, and dried cranz

Feeling like my stomach was back on track, I went for a little jog in my ‘hood.  Nothing crazy, just a few miles in Riverside Park to get my heart rate up.

Dinner was lazy, but easy on the tum.

Delish, but not what I wanted.  I had a second serving but it didn’t make up for the fact that I haven’t had an apple in 2 days!!  🙁

Strawberrrrry bliss.

I’m hoping that tomorrow I will be all the way back to normal…well, normal for me.

On a completely unrelated note, have you seen these cervical cancer commercials?  They are just about the weirdest thing I have ever seen.  I can’t decide if they are cleverly and informatively inappropriate or just plain old inappropriate.

Your SIAB’s sound wonderful. I want one, mmmm! I hope you get better soon, being sick is no fun. BTW, I find that apples/applesauce are really good when I’m sick, so if you want one I’d go for it!

I have been loving running in Riverside Park lately. So perfect.

What. The. Hell. Falling ill is no excuse for apple skippage 😉 Actually, i know exactly how you feel. When i am sick my taste buds are all over the place, and i think i have even had an apple-less day when i wasn’t feeling well. Maybe thats why? You never know, haha. Props to you for getting your butt out there and logging a couple of miles even though you weren’t feeling to cool. Hope you feel better soon!

I love the eco mama post…love the recycle/reusable bag action. I drive less than 20 miles per week, no meat, reuse everything, cloth diapered, dont do much air travel anymore, vegan, etc etc…i think my footprint is pretty small compared to the avg american but i can always do better 🙂

aww sorry you’re sick i hate feeling sick! xxx

What?! 2 full days without an apple? That is criminal! Do I need to come there and bring you some?! I ate 7 yesterday 🙂 (Although, I don’t know that I should really be boasting that as though it is a *good* thing…?) so maybe I had you covered?

I hope you are truly feeling better! Take time and rest if you need it 🙂

Feel better – you’re eats still look better than most people’s on the days they are well!

Carbs, not showering, massive amounts of Bravo watching – that’s not a sick day, that’s a “Me” day in my world 😉

    FEEL BETTER SOON!!!

  8. elleneatsbeats

Glad to hear you’re feeling better. My eats are always so wack when my stomach isn’t feeling in top shape.

  9. Katie

Just watched that commercial…my vote? It’s weird.

Glad you’re feeling better and that the weather is warm! Also, I consider blending something “cooking” on a lot of non-sick days. 🙂

Haha, love your productivity as measured by showering rule:)

yes! the first time i saw it, i laughed because i thought it was a clever way to grab attention. with repeated viewings (hello, it was on 3.5 million times during the academy awards), i was like OK PEOPLE, this is enough. it’s creeping me out. at least we are talking about it, i guess thats the point, right?

  12. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine

That’s seriously one of the wierdest commercials I’ve ever seen. I feel like there’s barely any point to it! When I’m sick, I go for the carbs as well. Apples are just about the only thing I crave when I’m super sick, so it’s a bummer you didn’t have any! Glad you’re feeling better!

  13. Tara

mmmm i think i’ll go make a smoothie. looks fab!

  14. Erica

oh girl! I hope you are feeling 100% now! Fabulous eats! That bowl of almonds, carob chips, and dried cranberries looks just jammin. I love Bravo marathons…I’m watching my DVRd real housewives reunion right now 🙂

  15. Jenny

aww boo boo – get better STAT, ya heard?

  16. Amy @ Second City Randomness

I think drowning myself in tea is the first thing I do for multiple things… stomach flu, cold, headaches, hangover… what?

    Feel better soon!

  17. Gabriela (froyolover)

I´m like that too, girl – I simply can´t imagine to live without apples. I mean, two days?!
Hahahaha. Gotta love AB sammies and smoothies!
    Incredibly appealing 🙂
    Have a great weekend!

  18. Cole

Heck, making a smoothie counts as cooking even when you’re not sick! Get well soon

    old and inappropriate.
