Over 4 inches (twss)

August 5, 2009 · 0 comments

All these readers coming out of the woodwork – I love it!!  Especially when I get free back/chiropractor advice out of it.  You guys are the BEST :D

Javaaaahhh.  Much like yesterday’s, this cup was another NuStevia success story.  I adore the hint of vanilla that a few drops of extract provides.  YUM.

I’m not sure why that apple looks so small – or why I appear to have man-hands?  It was a normal sized apple…but evidently the vise-like grip of my massive hands makes fruit resemble 2-bite horse apples.

Whatevs.  While sipping away, I researched wedding dresses, chatted with my momz, researched back-stretcher-outer-peeps, researched flights to go home in Oct, and researched US Open tix (basically I went blind from starting at the computer screen) and thereupon decided to quit the computer and make lunch.

IMG_3660

These are the remaining two Gardenburgers from a few weeks back.  The were crazy oily when I heated them up today, so I patted them down, then sliced them up for optimal hummus dipping.  I don’t think I’ll buy this brand of soy burgers again…the consistency is bizarro, and the flavor is too similar to real meat (which I don’t really like).  As I said last time I reviewed these, I prefer veg-loaded, grainy, seedy burgers.  These were too processed.  But what can I say, I was lazy, and these involved nothing more than punching numbers on the microwave.

IMG_3661IMG_3663

I also toasted a slice of Alvarado Street bread and lathered it with hummus.  I also had more hummus with carrots on the side.

IMG_3665

I snacked on dried papaya spears while continuing my aforementioned computer-ing.  You like how I just turn every noun into a verb by adding an “ing” ending?  Four years at UCLA was such a great investment, no?

After the dried fruit sugar hit my blood stream, I laced up my sneaks, and bounced out of the door.  On my way to the gym I ran into a coworker.  Random!  We chatted a bit, and soon I was back on my merry little way.  Nothing ground breaking at NYSC today, just some good old fashioned elliptical followed by abs and stretching.

On the way home I found what may just be the MOST EXCITING THING since sliced bread live sprouted bread…

IMG_3666

Mini-single tubs of Sabra hummus!!!!!!  O.M.eff.G!

I can’t wait to use up the last of my Tribe singles so I can bring these bad boys to work!  Amore.

IMG_3602

I was in a big-time rush for a hair cut appt, so this bowl was consumed in 3 seconds flat.  I’m fairly certain there is a whole almond somewhere in my GI tract right now.  Sorry Mr. Duodenum!

IMG_3669

New hair cut!  I said I wanted a trim with some light layers, and next thing I know he’s chop chop chopping away.  Eeek.  The control freak in me was gripping the armrests so hard my knuckles were white, but the non-confrontational side of me held it together.  Deep breathing.  Count to ten.  He cut off over 4 inches.  I’m no hair dresser, but I consider a trim in the 1-2 inch range…anyways, all the blonde is officially gone (woohoo).  I think this is a sign.  The blonde represented my California days, and now I’m a super serious hard New Yorker brunette.  Riiiiight.

BTW, the make-up-free photo just goes to show you how I have no sensor whatsoever on this blog.  And the massive bags under my eyes show you how sleep deprived I am.

IMG_3670IMG_3671

Just keep it simple salad: spinach, cherry toms, raw corn, carrots, chickpeas, and hummus.  Yes, chickpeas AND hummus.  Don’t act surprised.

IMG_3599IMG_3600

For dessert I savored the above VeganRella cheddar “cheese” melting into a beautiful cheesy mess on toasted Alvarado Street bread.

Back to the grind manana.  Peace out!

Horse food – pffft! I’ll take my ‘enhanced’ jumbo sized apples any day!

No lies, today I researched different ways to use hummus besides the obvious. Hummus soup? Yes, please. I need to find new ways to justify my addiction.

HOT new ‘do my gorgy friend :) You and I are two chickpeas in a pod though, I’ve been there with the whole clenching the armrests at the hair dresser’s many times!

I bet those single serve hummus tubs are like the little booze bottles you get on the plane…fun for the cute factor, but no where near enough.

Not a fan of Gardenburger stuff in general either. The texture’s just weird.
I hate it when the hairdresser doesn’t listen to my length requirements! You look beautiful though:)

Creak, another one slips out from the woodwork!

I’m a meat eating omnivore but come to your blog everyday to read about your day and to envy your food which always looks so pretty and colourful. I seem to only eat brown food – eek.

The layers are tres cute!

Those little tubs of Sabra are so cute? Where did you find them? Btw your haircut is really cute. I had a similar experience with a hairdresser recently. Asked for a trim and he cut off about 5 inches but it grew on me so I stopped hating him.

Love the hair! Control freak? Last time I got my hair cut (a few weeks ago), they guy cut of 7-8 inches! Ahhhh! I swear I was practically in tears in the chair…I was mortified! But once he made a cut, it was pretty hard to say–”umm…that is too much!” and have him stop, you know?! I don’t think the one-sided un-even look is too hot right now…

I forgot to say on your last post–chiropractors are not scary! I have been going to one for years as needed. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions!

A little secret..they sell those hummus mini tubs in BULK at Costco & BJs. we are currently stocked with 2. yes 2. packages of them in my house.

I’m feelin that new do girl! When my hair dresser made me twins with eminem I walked away with a bill for my hair and a bill for reapolstering their chair that I dug my nails into. Yours looks awesome though so no worries :)

Duodenum was always my favorite word in science class – then the whole class would debate on how to phonetically pronounce it. Yeah – I’m cool ;)

OMG! Beautiful, I love that you have no censor — both aesthetically and in terms of who you are. Being real is the most beautiful quality in my book.

You look gorgy in the pic and love the hair! Trust, brunettes have way more fun – and we can get away with a hell of a lot more too, haha.

I’m sure the mini-sabra’s won’t reach my state until 2073, but I can always hope! The joy they would bring me!

I explained it in this post:

oh thanks, that’s great! Do you use hot or cold milk for the frothing?

Reply

37 elise August 9, 2009 at 3:08 pm

Froth it cold then heat it in the micro for a few seconds after…for some reason it doesn’t froth if its already warm. Also the less fat in the milk, the better it froths. I have no clue why either of those occurs but that’s what I have found. :) totally worth it.

sounds great! you’ve already got me hooked on hummus in sandwiches and dried cranberries in salads, now maybe frothed coffee too? :)
I’ve also heard you can shake cold milk in a jar, then microwave it until it’s hot, for frothed milk.
