Quinoa carotene bowl

Who loves orange food?  I do!  I probably have amazing Vitamin A levels 🙂   Sweet potatoes have B-carotene up the yin yang (a precursor to Vitamin A).    I had baked these rounds a few day ago and they were just waiting to be incorporated into a recipe.   More orange foods!  Bell peppers and carrots and hummus… Plus red quinoa and couscous.   I ate some of the baked sweet potato rounds as chips.  Perfect hummus vehicles 🙂 The only thing you need to do for this recipe is add everything to a… Read more >

“You can’t do x,y,z as a vegan”

That is what American David Zabriskie is disproving as he competes in his fifth Tour de France – this time fueled by a vegan diet. My dad sent me this article from the WSJ, which I read this morning with my cup of joe. Perfect puddin’

I took my sweet time posting this recipe because I wanted it to be perfect.  I wasn’t looking for anything fancy.  My criteria were the following: quick low on sugar no fake sugar dessert worthy chocolate substantial In other words, I wanted something that I could whip up with ease, that would satisfy my sweet tooth, without excess sugar.  However, I wanted it to be made of real ingredients so it would both hold me over and offer something nutritionally. Perfect puddin’ (v, gf) Ingredients: 7 oz. soft tofu (1/2 block) 1 tbsp chia seeds… Read more >

Foodies and fundraisers

First off, can I just say cancer is a mother effer.  We all can agree on this I’m sure.   On July 25th I will be auctioning off a home-made treat for The Great Fundraising Act.  Susan needs to focus on keeping her energy levels high and leave woes of hospital bills to bloggers.  Susan, me, Janetha, and Holly Ready to get your bid on?  Good.  Now.  Raise your hand if you are obsessed with cookbooks and other food related reading materials.  Ok, for all the foodies with their hands in the air, this next… Read more >
