Toasting on top

I discovered a way to cheat the system.

Now you can get blackened toast marks like you get from grilling burger buns…by putting them on top of the toaster.

I’m probably not rocking the boat with this discovery, but I thought it was pretty clever (pat on the back, Elise).  You don’t have to smash the buns shoving them into the toaster.  And you don’t have to wait for your oven to heat up.  It’s super quick and yields nice toasty buns with legit char marks.

Of course, your toppings won’t be melty, but you can’t be too picky if you’re wanting food with a quickness a lazy foodie.

Monster sandwich, much?

And for the record, I ended up editing my opinion post on this recipe because Kyle has since tried it and declared it to be really really good.

Anyway, there’s my random tip for the day.

Good idea, Elise! Can I ask what kind of bun that is? I am looking for a GF bun. Unfortunately, they don’t sell those Mighty bagels by Udi’s that you like so much (and look so good). I can only find the plain ones. 🙁

Word of warning: If your buns are really soft (no pun intended) they might stick to the top of the toaster, so just be careful with that! Otherwise, I totally agree and usually stick mine in the broiler. Toasting on top!

That is such a smart idea. Im totally obsessed with toast, and always end up with burnt buns! This will be on my “to do” list 😉

How innovative! I love toasted bread but some get stuck in the toaster, etc. so I will definitely be trying this method. 🙂 i have to thank you for the jackfruit post with those yummy pics that reminded me to use the cans I had been hoarding. I used a combo of recipes online for mexican crockpot jackfruit and was super happy with the results!

F-n BRILLIANT. I seem to burn everything I put under the broiler, no matter if I stand there and watch it or not. Totally doing this. Thank you!!
