Yoga girrrrl

I’m sure at least a few of you saw that video way back when right? It’s now the anthem I sing in my head anytime I go to yoga. Normal? Nah.

[Side note: Kyle wants to meet DJ Dave in a huge way…and since he’s clearly a Santa Monica resident, I think it’s only a matter of time…I just hope I’m not with him when it happens]

I started the day with a non-cereal version of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Aka toast with Earth Balance and sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on top.

Lovely.

Since yoga was at 12:30 I was stuck with the dilemma of timing when was best to eat lunch. Yoga with a full stomach is no fun, but yoga with a growling stomach is worse.

I had a few pineapple rings and peaced out of the casa at noon to walk over to the Montana Ave YogaWorks by 12:15.

Post session, I stopped in at the WF across the street for a carrot, beet, apple, kale, ginger juice.

It was absolutely the best. I wished I’d gotten the larger size. Or five more. I had slurped it all down in a matter of blocks.

Once home I made a more substantial meal for lunch.

A vegan sando with almond mozzarella “cheese”, avocado, spinach, mustard, & tomato.

With two raisinet cookies for dessert.

For dinner I had an insanely protein packed meal – complete with quinoa, seitan, and fried egg.

Carrots and hummus not pictured due to obvious (and implicit) inclusion in every meal.

On the late night, I had a serious ice cream session.

Holy. Wow.

Mocha Almond Fudge was my favorite flavor (back in my youngster days). After swim practice my sister and I would cycle all over town, eventually ending up at Baskin Robbins with our hard earned summer cash. Mocha Almond Fudge is not the typical cone order for an 11 year old, but it’s what I got. Unless they had Mocha Fudge. Which was far superior, but rarely available (because most people like almonds). I, however, had no qualms with spitting each almond out as I came across it.

Nowadays, I’m much more refined. I eat nuts (minus a few I still can’t get on board with) and I don’t spit out my food (unless people lie to me and tell me something is vegetarian when it’s in fact pork).

If you’ve never tried So Delicious’ almond milk ice cream, do it NOW.

Haha, I had forgotten about that video! It’s so stinking funny… every time.

Also, that juice sounds PERFECT…I’m going to have to try that combo out at home.

So Delicious Almond Milk Ice Cream…sooooo good! I just discovered it, and I can testify that the Cherry Amaretto is … well, making me drool just thinking about it right now:-)
I tried Cookies and Cream too, which was good but not as good as CA. In both cases, though, it’s much lighter than the Coconut Milk Ice Cream–and, um…therefore much easier to eat even more!

lol mocha almond fudge is very sophisticated for a kid! And I LOVE making cinnamon sugar toast! It was my favorite thing to make growing up and I still make it whenever I’m at home!

  4. Caralyn @ glutenfreehappytummy

that ice cream looks outrageous! i’ve had coconut milk ice cream, but never almond milk! i’ll definitely have to give it a try! Sounds like a great day!

  5. Jessie

I’ve only ever had that ice cream once.. and should’ve taken advantage of it then since it’s non existant here, boo!!!

Yum, I love cinnamon toast! Reminds me of being a kid.
That juice combo sounds so delicious! I’ll have to remember that one.
I’ve never had almond milk ice cream! I’m not much of an ice cream lover, since it tastes like milk to me…and I hate the stuff. And find almond milk tastes a lot like regular milk…maybe this stuff does not though! It looks pretty awesome.

  7. Ashley @ AlmostVegGirlie

I love that brand of almond milk ice cream but I still haven’t come across that flavor yet. I have a feeling I’ll love it because anything with chocolate, coffee and almonds is delicious!

it never ceases to amaze me how much food you consume in a day. though i think it’s still less than the amount of food we ate in college. ah, the good old days…

thought you should know that i’ve decided that the original flavor of bobo’s bars is currently my fave. also, kyle’s work wife’s sister-in-law (think about that for a second) works for brad’s. she’s going to get me a box of kale chips. obvs they’re not as good as alive and radiant, but free food is free food.

    xoxo

So Delicious Almond Milk ice-cream is unbelievable! I’m sooo addicted. Did you find the Mocha Almond Fudge at WF?! Which location?? I’ve been searching everywhere for it but have only been able to find vanilla, chocolate, mint chip, and cookies & cream…not that those flavors are anything to complain about. (:

  17. Ksenija

I love that breakfast – simple but looks divine! Have to try that one soon – there is still some slightly dry carrot-zucchini walnut bread lying around at home which might use some toasting. So probably tomorrow 😉

Is this mocha almond fudge avail at WF? I have yet to finish my soy vanila and mango ice cream from TJ’s. I reward myself a tablespoon after every work out. 😉

  22. Lisa F. @thevalleyvegan

Hi! The question of what to do about food + yoga… I’ve been practicing Ashtanga for 13 years, and I know they teach that you should fast for 4 hours prior to practice and 1 hour after. If you go to a morning class, you’re sure to have fasted the right amount of time considering you probably didn’t snack during the night! There are other schools of thought depending on which kind of yoga you are doing, but I could never even do the 4 hour fast – I had to do yoga on a completely empty stomach or I felt sick, even with the lightest of snacks.

    Have fun!

  23. Lisa

Maybe its more of the texture? I don’t know, haha I’m just odd I suppose.
I actually just tried coconut milk ice cream! And loved it. Definitely very tasty!

  24. Elise (Post author)

youre funny…but i totally get it…i have weird texture issues too 🙂

  25. Elise (Post author)

thanks for your input lisa. i wish this class was at 10 or so because then it would be perfect. ah well…experimentation to ensue…
