Home for the Holidays Two-a-day

12/23/12

On Sunday we had yet another brunch date in the morning.  This time we headed to Pleasant Hill to Jack’s.

This was our first time there, but Elaine is a regular (and my family has been a few times, too).  It’s hugely family friendly (I think every group had one or more babies), plus they have a ton of space and they play football.  In other words, it’s perfect.

I got two poached eggs with hash browns and toast.  The best part was playing with Elaine’s 4 month old, Cooper.  He’s such a sweetie pie.  He’s the kind of first born that makes you think you could have 4 more children because he’s always happy and smiling (and he didn’t cry once even though I was holding him out of view of Elaine the whole time).

Sadly we had to split out of there pretty quickly to go home and get ready to head into SF.

To see the Nutcracker!!!

It was awesome.  I haven’t seen the Nutcracker ballet since 2007.  I snacked on two bars and some trail mix during the performance.  I was very quiet.

Post performance we were supposed to go to dinner at Farmer Brown, but the weather was crap and we had over an hour to kill until our reservation so instead we took BART back to the East Bay and went to dinner at Sasa in Walnut Creek.  It was so good that it deserves it’s own post.

We desserted it up later on at home (a few date balls for moi) while watching We Bought A Zoo.  Not a great movie btw.  I only made it through 1/3 of it (partially because my friend came over while the movie was on and I preferred catching up with her to the super engaging plot).

We chatted until we were both yawning more than catching up on each others’ lives and then it was off to bed.

I watched We Bought a Zoo on an airplane and it made me cry. So embarrassing. Crying on an airplane in general and the fact that it was that movie that did it.

I’m so jealous that you got to see the Nutcracker! That’s my absolute favorite thing to do during the Christmas season but I haven’t been able to go for years!
