Kru birthday

We started celebrating a little early…

It’s my best friend’s birthday!

Everyone and their mother has been saying how good Kru is and we finally made it!

I’m not one to do omakase, but nearly everything on the menu caught my eye, so I’d definitely consider it in the future.  You get to sit at the bar and watch them!  Anyway, we ordered off the menu…

And that’s not even the sushi side!!

Can you believe we didn’t even end up getting sushi!?!  For reals, this place is amazing.  I am 100% going back.  Spoiler alert: It’s our new favorite spot.

We started with warm ramen with miso broth and pork belly.

And.  Dang.

Not to be outdone by the tsukune (we got the beef kushiyaki) which comes with this insane egg yolk dipping sauce on the side.  It was bonkers.

We also got the poke trio – it had Hawaiian style spicy marinated tuna, tako, and hamachi and on the top are three pairing salts – Green Tea Salt, Nori Salt, and Shichimi Salt.  The octopus was a little chewy but the flavors of everything were soooo good.  And the salts!  OMG.  Who would have known salts would be so good!  I can’t even choose a favorite!

Last but not least was the pork belly and uni with a sansho gastrique and sturgeon chicharone.  Honestly, it was crazy good.

I HAVE TO GO BACK AND TRY THE REST OF THE MENU!!!!!  We were full and it was so sad because we still had a babysitter for another hour or more, so we decided to just soak up our time alone together…by getting a coffee.

But then we accidentally walked into Nugget and bought desserts.

Oops.

It was a super night. 🙂

You guys are so adorable 🙂
I love the idea of pairing salts…my favorite salt is truffle salt…but I can’t buy it because I put it on EVERYTHING (and it is expensive!)
Also, I did an omakase once when I lived in Oahu. The meal was an exquisite masterpiece. Yet, when I left, I felt as though I had eaten an exotic aquarium :/

My gosh what a fantastic meal!! The whole menu looks really good! If they offer an omakase with hot kitchen dishes as well then totally go for it- an all sushi omakase would be fabulous i’m sure but they have such creative other options that it would be a shame to miss those.
I love that you “accidentally” went for dessert! 🙂
