Very Berry Salad

I didn’t come up with this salad name.

I’m pretty sure that’s the handwriting of my sister circa 1992.  Here’s a translation:

Dressing

  • 1/3 cup EVOO
  • 1/3 cup vinegar (regular – as in not balsamic)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 T sesame seeds
  • 1 T white onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp paprika

Salad

  • 1-2 pints strawberries
  • a whole lotta spinach
  • 3 T almonds, slivered
  • optional: crumbled goat cheese, avocado

I retook the (below) photo three times because it looked so weird.  Despite the odd coloring, there really aren’t any special effects going on.

Why do my sisters hands look like cold dead vampire hands?  Meanwhile the avocado is practically glowing.  Odd.

Anyways, this salad is pretty epic, but the dressing is what makes it crazy fabulous.  I made my fam wait to add the goat cheese until after I had served my share.

As you can see, I had some portion control when adding dressing to my salad.  Dressing puddling on the plate?  That’s what bread is for!  :)

Delicious dinner with the family.

Looks delicious, and as for the name, all the world loves a rhyme. And alliteration, which might account for so many of our blog names, mine included :)

Just for the record, I love your odd coloring picture … the avocado looks so neat and colorful!

Aww that’s so cute that you used your sister’s old recipe :) And those avocados are so glow in the dark, love it!

Love this salad! And for a quick correction: the dressing calls for 1/3C vegetable oil. (Not EVOO) very important change :)
