Weekend in Chico (woo!)

Kyle and his friends (who all grew up together in Chico) always say “woooo!” after anyone mentions Chico, so it’s become a habit for me too.  So that’s what the post title is about. I’ve written about Chico visits before, and we usually got to the same spots, so I won’t elaborate too much on the food. Friday night I had my fantasy draft and Kyle went to poker night. In spite of my half assed research, I came out with a decent team (I hope?) but it was very stressful…hence the chocolate wrappers.  … Read more >

San Fran-iversary weekend

I realize this post is hardly timely.  We didn’t get back from the city until Monday evening and then I worked two nights in a row though…sooo…what can you do?  Truthfully, my weekend recaps are my own selfish way of documenting our memories forever and ever.  If others enjoy them, great!    So let’s back track to Saturday.  I was recovering from a few night shifts so we kept the day mellow.  I ate at odd times and didn’t get close to capturing everything I ate on film.  Did you know sleep deprivation can make… Read more >

Hot-urday

Last weekend’s (eek, super delayed post, this is from 2 weekends ago!!) al fresco was indoors because IT. IS. SO. HOT. I pretend like I’m upset about this, but in reality, my complaints are all big fat lies.  I love the sun.  Summer months are the sh!t.  But maybe I should back up.  I actually took pics of the whole day’s eats.  Well, almost.   I had banana bread with two eggs for breakfast.  We went to the co-op and the farmer’s market for grocery shopping, followed by a lunch date at Crepeville.   I… Read more >

Whole Foods Fumi Salad

Remember when I wrote an ode to Whole Foods (and basically showed you how to blow your bank account while unemployed for the summer)? Yeah, well, that post featured one of my all time favorite salads from WF.  The fumi tofu salad.  It’s really just an Asian cabbage slaw, I suppose.  With ramen noodles. We had lots of cabbage so why not?  I didn’t feel like making tofu, so ours was a protein-less version, but adding tofu (or tempeh) would be the proper way to honor the WF gods.    Chilled noodle salads are the… Read more >

Weekly Recap

This week was fun.  Busy and not busy in perfect amounts.  One thing I’ve noticed about working part time is there’s a big (HUGE) difference between 2 shifts and 3 shifts.  It may not sound like it, but I feel like the time off allows me to get so much more done.  And rather than fill it with errands and chores, I can actually hang out and relax and enjoy myself.  It’s lovely.  Here are some of the things I ate this week. Breakfasts   Baked oatmeal bars with blueberries [sorry about the crappy pic]… Read more >
