Bruins, birthdays, and BBQs

Saturday was sponsored by the letter “b” apparently.  Kyle and I woke up at 7 am to get in a morning jog.  I hate working out early in the AM, but I love how it frees up the rest of the day.  So conflicting.  The reason I don’t like rise-and-shine cardio is because I suck at it.  I’m slow in the mornings.  I don’t really start to function until an hour (or two, if I’m being honest) after I’ve been awake.  The route I took Saturday morning typically takes me 24 minutes (when I do… Read more >

Santa Monica Place

Last week was the (long awaited) grand opening of the newly rebuilt mall at the end of the 3rd street promenade…only it’s no longer just a “mall.” The new Santa Monica Place is pretty much the happening spot…but in addition to the high end shopping (finally a Bloomingdale’s on the west side!), there’s an entire dining deck. Source Trust me, this rooftop setting isn’t your average mall food court.  Far from it. Ocean views.  Award winning chefs.  Like I said, it’s the happening spot.  Even after a week of being open, getting reservations was nearly… Read more >

Va De Vi

It’s about the wine. That’s the Catalan translation of this restaurant’s name, and indeed it was.  Kyle and I had no real occasion to go out to dinner, but we just felt like splurging for a fun date night.  Va De Vi is a gem of a restaurant in Walnut Creek’s downtown area.  The ambiance is casual but chic, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff, a menu that changes with the seasons, and a wine list to die for.  Every direction you turned had more wine displayed.  And being all about the wine, the menu… Read more >

Entering Emerald City

Seattle, Seattle, where to begin?!?  Too much good stuff.  There’s no way I could fit everything in one post – and why would I want to?  No sense in glossing over the sweet eats and fun times.  Soooo, now that I’m back in the Bay Area and doing mostly wedding shiz, I’ll spare you all and skip the boring non-blogworthy crap (you’re welcome), and instead share my vacation in Seattle post by post!  Sound good?  Great! We arrived Sunday afternoon, fueled by Starbucks coffee.  The drive wasn’t too bad and navigating the city was fairly… Read more >

Celebrating my pop-sicle

Sunday was an absolutely GORGEOUS day in the Bay.  I actually took this picture Saturday night when Kyle and I decided to take a stroll down memory lane (through Crissy Field).  For new readers, it’s where Kyle proposed to me a year ago.  It’s now two months until our wedding and I still feel as giddy as I did the day he popped the question.  Anyways, back to Sunday morning… Kyle and I woke up bright and early, said goodbye to the Marina, and headed to the East Bay to spend Father’s Day with my… Read more >
