To the madres

I’m back home in the Bay Area after yesterday’s Napa wedding.  What a gorgeous and fun time! It was like a college reunion (slash fraternity/sorority event).  The only difference is that everyone is married or engaged now.  It was kinda silly actually – there were 10 engaged couples at the wedding!  Can you believe it?  Wedding season much?  Of the 250 guests, 50 of us were from UCLA (99% of which were in the same frat and same sorority as the bride and groom).  It was cute.   Congrats guys! Intuition

You may have noticed that I took some time off from blogging this week.  Many people turn to rules and the likes to get back on track, but I prefer the opposite.  Personally, I equate rules with restrictions, and I’m not ok with that.  If that works for you, great.  For me, it’s just unhealthy.  Instead, I go the opposite route, listening (and I mean, really paying attention) to my body for guidance.  I think that being an intuitive eater is extra difficult if you have a food blog because it just increases the amount… Read more >

Tempeh time

Guess how I woke up this morning?  I fell out. of. bed. No joke, I woke up as I hit the floor.  Who am I?  A three year old?  Fortunately our comforter is really thick and I was so wrapped up in it, my body was cushioned enough.  No injuries to speak of, but not exactly the best way to start the day.  Oats, on the other hand, are a perfect way to start the day. Oats with chopped apples, cinnamon, and peanut butter…that’s the kind of breakfast that makes you forget about even the… Read more >

Bon Voyage

The time has come.  In just a few short days my sister will be heading off to travel the world.  She’s spent months and months planning and will soon be living the dream.  She quit her job.  She packed her bags.  And this past weekend she came to So Cal for a final sendoff.  If you are prone to major travel jealousy, you may want to skip over the next part… Laura’s Travel Itinerary March 30 – April 25: South America (Argentina, Chile, Peru) April 25 – May 20: Spain May 20 – 25: Paris,… Read more >
