Cookie Sunday

This post will be especially appealing to the following people:

  • people who are gluten free
  • people who are vegan
  • people who gave up sweets for Lent (and are now able to indulge)
  • people who like cookies 🙂

If you are none of the above, then perhaps you should reevaluate your life stop reading.  For the rest of you…

IMG_7236

This is where the good stuff is.

IMG_7226

Nana’s cookies have always been my absolute favorite.  I’ve tried MANY dairy free desserts, and there’s always something a little bit off about the flavor/texture/whatever, but not with Nana’s.  They are SO soft and chewy.  They bend like they are fresh out of the oven and literally have a gooey center that makes you wonder if there’s some kind of magic involved in Nana’s recipe.  I’m not exaggerating when I say they are completely perfect in every way.  I’m convinced there is no better cookie.  Anywhere.  Oh, and did you know they are certified gluten free?  Yeah.

IMG_7229

They are also vegan, sweetened with 100% natural fruit juice.

IMG_7230

Last week I got a big package in the mail…and quickly dug in.  The coconut chip was the first flavor I tried because I had never seen it before in stores.

IMG_7235

It had a subtle coconut flavor with a soft baked oaty texture.

IMG_7232

They were unbelievably moist and chewy.  Unbelievable, as in, I couldn’t believe I was eating a packaged cookie.  I can’t be any more enthusiastic about it.

IMG_7233

The cookie is sweet, but in a mellow way that makes you want to eat a dozen more in one sitting.  And the occasional chocolate chip puts the yum factor over the edge.

IMG_7237

The next cookie I tried was peanut butter.

IMG_7462

Just like the rest of Nana’s cookies, it was vegan and delicious.

IMG_7464

Every time I try a new flavor I swear it’s my favorite one.  And this has happened with the last 4 flavors I’ve tried.  So if you ask me which is my favorite, I’d have to say all of them.  Or whichever one I had just had.  Or whichever one I was about to have.  Seriously.  I could never choose.

Peanut butter is one of them.

IMG_7463

Same great nutritional stats.

IMG_7465

And just for size comparison, here it is next to my blackberry.

IMG_7466

Large and in charge.

So…have I whet your appetite yet?  Have I convinced you that Nana’s has perfected the vegan and gluten free dessert?  Would you like to try some and see for yourself?  I thought so.

Lucky for you Nana’s has offered to give one HHH reader the following:

– 1 box of GF Chocolate Munch Bars + 1 box of GF Lemon bites + 2 large GF ginger cookies (if you are gluten free)

OR

– 1 box Fudgy Wudgy Bars + 1 box of peanut butter bites + 2 large double chocolate cookies (if you aren’t gluten free)

So, here’s what you have to do.

  • Leave a comment telling me your favorite kind of cookie (feel free to browse Nana’s website for ideas).
  • Leave a comment sharing a home-made cookie memory.
  • Tweet about this giveaway mentioning @elisehippie and/or @NanasCookieCo

I’ll announce the winner on Wednesday April 27th, 2011.  Until then, happy (belated) Earth Day, happy (early) Easter, and happy cookie dreaming…

My favorite cookie is mama pea’s peanut butter cookie dough balls! so goooood.

  2. Katya

My favorite kind of cookie is chocolate chip or fudge brownie. Now that you mentioned coconut cookies, I think I’ll have to make some, as I love all things coconut. Why haven’t I ever thought of making coconut cookies before!?

  3. czechvegan

My favourite cookies are these extremely simple walnut carob cookies, consisting of my favourite ingredients: http://vegetarian.about.com/od/vegancookierecipes/r/walnutcookies.htm

    They are delicious!

  4. czechvegan

My mom used to make home-made gingerbread like cookies, which the whole family loved so much, that even our cats were driven crazy, when she put them in the oven:) I remember myself being able to eat like 20 in one sitting! Unfortunately they were not vegan, so they are no more an option for me (and mom in no more that fond of spending her day in front of the oven:))

  5. Candy (Healthy in Candy Land)

I recently tried the Nana’s chocolate chip, and had pretty low expectations–I don’t usually like packaged cookies, and a gluten-free cookie did not even sound possible. With the first bite I had to re-read the package to be sure I picked up the right one! It was SO good! I haven’t stopped thinking about that cookie since!

  6. AnAppleADay

i love oatmeal or chocolate kind~

  7. AnAppleADay

I’ve tried one or two of these and these really are amazing…I’d love to try the other flavors! My favorite cookie is dreena burtons homestyle chocolate chip cookie (that I’ve made) but love the holistic chocolate chip cookie by kookie karma…so coconutty! I am sure the coconut chip nana cookie is delicious!

  10. Danica

My fav are super charge me cookies! They are actually so tasty even though they’re healthy and filled with flax!

  11. clairedille

A cookie memory…hmmm probably when I used to eat them in college with my roomie between classes in cold boston with tea to dip them in and get all melty.

  12. jammed-thoughts

I absolutely LOVE all-chocolate cookies… those fudgy-wudgy bars are screaming my name. And those are all fruit-juice sweetened?! Spectacular!

  13. jammed-thoughts

    A cookie memory, hm…
I remember going to my grandma’s house, and she would bake these MASSIVE cookies that were literally the size of my head. She’d slather them in rocky road and my brother and I would eat ourselves into a sugar coma!

  14. Gloria

I remember baking chocolate chip cookies with my older sister back when I was little. I think it might have been a recipe she got from her high school cooking class (Home Ec).

  15. dianna

hi elise! this giveaway is awesome. i love the size comparison of the cookie to your blackberry. now that’s what i call a cookie! my favorite cookie is hands down white chocolate chip with macadamia nuts and i like it slightly underbaked and gooey.

  19. dianna

one of my best memories of my father is also one of my favorite cookie memories. i was 6 at the time and my father took on the formidable task of teaching me how to ride a bike. god bless him he had no idea how uncoordinated his daughter was. well let’s just say 2 hours, 3 crying fits (on my part although i wouldn’t have blamed him if he joined in) and 1 broken side view car mirror later we were both on the verge of defeat. that’s when out of nowhere my dad whips up the most amazing batch of white chocolate chip and macadamia nut cookies – they’re still the best cookies i’ve ever had. ultimately i didn’t learn how to ride a bike that day, but those cookies sure cheered me up and made me keep trying, which did lead to eventual success on the bike!

  25. Jessica

Ahhhhh this is so exciting!! I searched out Nana’s cookies after seeing then on your blog a while back. I am gluten free (plus have a while host of additional allergies) and it’s really hard to find delicious treats I can eat. I love love love Nana’s lemon cookies!!! I would be honored to win some. Thanks Elise for hosting such an awesome giveaway!

  26. clara

When I was little my mom and I used to bake this awesome cookies with yoghurt and cinnamon and we both thought that those were the beste cookies EVER.
Then one year we did not find the recipe and both couldn’t really remember what was in it and how you made them.

Years later the internet happened. I knew in which women’s magazine the recipe was published and I was looking for the recipe for hours. And I FOUND it! So amazing! These cookies really are the best!

  27. hippierunner

My favorite cookie is peanut butter chocolate chip.

  28. hippierunner

During high school track, people I didn’t know would call me Cookie Girl because after meets, I’d always have a bag of cookies my mom had made that everyone would fight over. Kids literally fought over who would get to take the empty bag full of crumbs lol.

  29. Alex

Holy snickerdoodles! This is a dangerous post! My favorite cookie forever and always will be the soda cookies my great grandma made. I have absolutely no idea what the ingredients are though because the recipe is not just a well guarded family secret…it’s a secret from everyone but grammy! Someday…someday I will discover the mystery that is the soda cookie…

  30. movesnmunchies

Hmm homemade cooking memory…my mum making a huuuge lasagne, and the dish cracking in half just as the whole family walked up the path. Priceless :p

  38. Emily

My favorite is the classic, chocolate chip 🙂

  39. Reid

Oh wow- drool… drool. I have a love for lemon cookies and vanilla. Since going GF a year ago I have not had anything like this! Thanks for sharing.

  40. Sarah

My favourite cookie has to be peanut butter and chocolate, nothing beats it for me! But I have to say Nana’s Coconut Chip also looks awfully tempting.

  41. Emily

A cookie memory… Oh boy. I’ve always liked to experiment in the kitchen, when my friends all had easy-bake ovens I was already using the actual oven. But as you can imagine, my creations weren’t always a success. I once added about 1/4 cup of baking soda to a small batch of “sugar cookies” and my mom being the kind loving lady she is, feigned enjoyment only to sprint to the kitchen sink with unbearable nausea 5 seconds later. Lesson learned at 6 years old.

  42. Sarah

Making homemade chocolate chip cookies with my mom defines my childhood, good times 🙂

  43. Reid

One of my favorite memories of baking cookies when I was little is from Christmas time. My Dad and I would do it together. We’d get flour everywhere because they were the roll cookies and the dough was always sticky. (Now I still make them as a Christmas gift for him and my Mom, trying to steer clear of any flour!)

  44. Erica

Favorite cookie? Either classic chocolate chip, or snickerdoodle!

  45. Reid

going to go Tweet about this too! Thanks!

  46. Emily

    Tweeted 🙂

  51. becky

favourite nana cookie is chocolate chip!!! i ALWAYS eat the whole thing in one sitting, none of the single serving biznaz! 😉

  52. becky

cookie memory: got busted for trying to pass of store bought cookies for homemade cookies in a bake sale:p

  53. Kay

Wait, the two pics/flavors you reviewed aren’t gluten free right? I was confusedly your post.

ANYWAY, my fave is the chocolate cookie crunch. I like to freeze it actually and break off pieces and put it in vegan ice cream and make “cookies n cream!” so freaking good!

  54. Kay

My favorite cookie memory is a bit of a disaster. When I was 8 my mom left town on a business trip and my dad decided to spend time with my brother and I by making peanut butter cookies. So we broke out the kids cooking book n got down to business making cutout people for everyone on our family. Unfortunately, my dad is NOT a baker and had no concept that cookies expand in the oven so when we opened the oven, they had overtaken the cookie sheet and were no longer cookies, but one huge cookie blob. My brother cried that his “person” was destroyed but my dad was clever to distract us with frosting and sprinkles and we ate cookie blob for breakfast, dinner and lunch that day. I felt so sick! But we still laugh about it and I have never been able to look at a peanut butter cookie the same since!

  55. ami

My favorite cookies are “garbage cookies” where you basically throw in every cookie-appropriate ingredient you have on hand!

  56. Kristin J.

GF Lemon bites? REally? nom nom!

  57. Krystle

My favorite cookies are any that involve the combo of chocolate and peanut butter. Nommy!

  58. Kristin J.

I love making wheat free, refined sugar free dairy free cookies with my little girl, safe to eat the raw dough! We love watching the cookies rise and eating them warm.

  59. Tracy

I LOVE to bake cookies, since going GF about a month ago I’ve completely stopped though. I’d love to try these! My favorite is good old fashioned chocolate chip 🙂 Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  64. Kristina

My cousin and I once tried making those chocolate chip cookies from a simple mix for Christmas but ended up eating the whole batch while it was still in dough form. I’ll never forget that night..or the fact that we didn’t get salmonella. 😛

  65. Clarissa Blanco

omg. the first time I tried to make cookies on my own were the like brownie-cookies made out of brownie mix type. and i was in a rush to get to my friends house with the cookies, and they weren’t done yet, so i took them out of the oven and brought them to my friends house still raw thinking i could continue cooking them there, it did not work at all. #fail

  66. Bethany

Mmm my favorite kind of cookie has to be an oatmeal raisin cookie!

  67. Rosie

favorite is probably plain old chocolate chip, or maybe peanut butter chocolate chip!

  68. Bethany

One time when I came home from college (pretty recently) I was really upset because I couldn’t find anything in the house that I wanted to eat (and that wouldn’t upset my lactose intolerance person) so my mom busted out the flour and told me to stop whining and lets make some cookies. It was actually pretty funny that I didn’t think of it first, but mommy’s always know best.

  69. Rosie

i used to LOVE going to my grandmas and making cookings with her.

  70. Bethany

    I’ve tweeted! 🙂

  71. Wendy Curlytop

  82. Emily

My favorite cooking is oatmeal butterscotch chip!

  83. Emily

I love Nana’s cookie…and they are an incredible discovery for a celiac gal like me!
I love the ginger cookies because they remind me of the cookies my grandmother used to make when we were little. She named them “Emily cookies”…and I thought ginger cookies were called this until my brother was born. She added his name on, but I still call them “Emily cookies”!

  84. sals

It is so hard to find (good) vegan cookies – I can’t wait to try Nana’s. My favorite cookie is oatmeal chocolate chip!

  85. sals

One of my favorite cookie memories is from when I was just old enough to make cookies “all by myself” – I was pouring the flour into the mixing bowl and accidentally dumped flour allll over my dog (who was, of course, standing by my feet waiting for a treat) – good thing he is a white dog! I was horrified but my family thought it was hilarious!

  86. oatsandspice

I would have to say that my favorite cookie is a molasses cookie 🙂

  87. oatsandspice

When I was little I used to always go over to my grandmas house around christmas time and decorate sugar cookies – it was always a blast!

  88. oatsandspice

    I tweeted!

  89. Kaleigh

I love oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and Nana’s has some great ones that are easy to transport and healthy too!!

My friend Jason and I always made cookies together when we were in highschool, and would fight over the best recipe and “technique” for our oatmeal cookies. He passed away 2 1/1 years ago, and now whenever I make oatmeal cookies, I am reminded of him and all those good natured arguments, and cookie-dough fueled tummy aches!

  90. Katherine

Mmm there is a store by my office that sells Nana’s and it takes a LOT of willpower not to drop by for a lunch dessert everyday. The chocolate chip tastes like cookie dough, and therefore, is my favorite.

  91. Katherine

I have strong memories of my mom making a ton of butter cookies each Christmas and making extra for my dad to bring to his work friends. This was during the “fat is bad” phase of the 90s, so it was always an especially big deal that my mom was using real butter rather than margarine.

  92. Alice

    LOVE peanut butter cookies!

  93. Krysta

Great giveaway! I LOVE chocolate chip cookies. I also really like peanut butter cookies. I would love abig chocolate chip peanut butter cookie!

  94. Jaclyn and Jenn

my fave cookie is chocolate chip of course!

  95. Jaclyn and Jenn

my favourite cookie memory is making choco chip cookies as a kid with my mom, even though my only job was to eat the leftover chocolate chips 😛

  96. Dori

    Hey Elise,
I’m not sure if I misunderstood your post, but NOT all of Nana’s cookies are gluten free. Actually, the first ingredient on both of the labels you have pics of is wheat flour. I checked the website and there are 4 gluten free cookies but not the ones you blogged about. I apologize if I misunderstood but I too have trouble finding gf, vegan cookies and those two flavors sounded fantastic.
    Thanks!

  97. Abby

I’m so upset with this post, as my favorite were the Nana’s PB cookies and the only Health Food store in my area stopped carrying them. Boo hiss…that said, the PB cookie was my favorite 😉

  98. Lanie

I love oatmeal raisin cookies! They are THE BEST.

  99. Desi@ThePalatePeacemaker

I love Nana’s too, but the flavors you blogged about are definitely not gluten-free. I am gluten-free and the only flavors I can have are the chocolate/fudge, lemon, ginger and berry vanilla. Just thought you should know so people who have celiac’s or are gluten intolerant like me are not mislead! I’ve been wishing Nana would make a gluten-free chocolate chip or coconut chip though… I’ve even written to the company! Ah well, fingers crossed… 🙂

  100. tea bag

when i was a little kid my favorite cookie was the chewy chips ahoy – never the regular, just the chewy! 🙂

  101. tea bag

one homemade cookie memory was when i tried to make homemade chinese fortune cookies to stuff w/ my own fortunes for a friend’s birthday party. turns out those suckers are hard to make … needless to say, i ended up buying a bag and stuffing my fortunes in through the little cracks! 🙂

  102. Katie R

    I love peanut butter cookies.

  103. Kasey @ The Balanced Bicyclist

My favorite kind of cookie is Chocolate Chip. An oldie, but a goodie 🙂

  104. Jessica

oatmeal chocolate chip are my fave!

  105. Katie R

Every year on Christmas Eve, my family makes sugar cut-out cookies and frosts them elaborately. It is always somewhat of a competition to see who can make the most intricate cookie design. However, the best results always happen during the first 30 minutes of decorating. After that, everyone seems to get a little tired of frosting, and the cookies are more likely to be covered with a quick smear of frosting and some sprinkles 🙂

  106. Kasey @ The Balanced Bicyclist

I will never forget making peanut butter cookies with my late grandma. Every time I went to her house (about a 2 hour drive.. we went every month or so), one of the first things we would do is make those cookies. Then she’d put them in her cookie jar to enjoy all weekend. Peanut Butter cookies always remind me of her!

  107. actorsdiet

i had an insane cookie last night – cookies n cream – tasted like an oreo meets a homebaked chocolate chip cookie

  108. Katie R

    I tweeted. (@carrotrunr)

Yum! Great giveaway. I’m really craving peanut butter cookies right now. But seriously, I can’t choose a favorite cookie 🙂

  110. Heidi @ Food Doodles

I used to love making PB cookies with my mom. I loved it when she let me squish them with a fork. Isn’t that the funnest part – you know, besides eating them 😀

  111. Salah

My favorite cookie has to be anything with Peanut butter and chocolate….I’ve had a very peanut butter cookie with chocolate frosting….it was amazing, GF, Vegan! I can’t remember where I got it though!

  112. coffeeandthepaper

I love snickerdoodles! I make them every year for the holidays. They taste 100x better around Christmas.

  113. Abby

My favorite cookie comes from a take on my mom’s recipe called “Lacy Cookies”. They have oats, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, and pecans. Mmmm! 🙂

  114. Abby

One of my favorite cookie memories is from this past Christmas. My aunt, sisters, step mom and I stayed up extremely late trying to decorate sugar cookies that made a 3D Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer set up. It was so time consuming but we laughed and made so many memories that night.

  115. Abby

    I tweeted! 🙂

  116. celeste

when I was younger, me and my sisters regularily made huge bathces of cookies, plated em up and left them on friends/crushes/strangers/teachers doorsteps, rang the bell and ran away! so fun.

  117. Heather

  118. Sandy

  120. Allison

Those look soo yummy! My favorite kind of cookie is probably oatmeal raisin but I do love a good chocolate pixie.

  121. Sandy

i’d love to try the chocolate chip! classic!

  122. Allison

Last year in December I went crazy baking cookies. I needed to make 6 dozen to take to a cookie party but I had so many good recipes to try. I ended up making 6 dozen of one kind, and then 1 batch each (1 – 2 dozen) of 5! other recipes. Luckily I froze the unbaked leftovers so that we didn’t go into a sugar coma and gain 20 pounds each.

  123. butterjessfly

My favorite cookie is good old chocolate chip!

  124. butterjessfly

    I also tweeted! I am @butterjessfly

  125. MarathonVal

Chocolate chip is my favorite… Except for when I am craving peanut butter… Or snickerdoodles… I love them all!!

  126. MarathonVal

One of my favorite cookie memories occurred when I was very young – maybe 6 years old or so? I’ll never forget… I accidentally switched the ratios for sugar and salt, using 1/2 tsp sugar and 1 c salt!!

  127. Rebecca

II loveeee chocolate chip, alltime favorite!

  128. Emily

I loooove peanut butter oatmeal cookies!

  129. Rebecca

We were lazy.. we weren’t vegan yet.. we had cookie dough squares in the freezer.. we baked those cookies.. ate half of the cookie dough plain 🙂

  136. lindsey

  139. Tori

Any type of cookie with chocolate in it is my favorite!

  140. Tori

    A home-made cookie memory:

I remember making peanut butter cookies with my mom when I was little. My favorite part was squishing down the cookies with a fork to give them the classic criss-cross pattern on top! Then I would eat a few hot from the oven dipped in cold milk. Good times.

  141. RunnrJo

Hands down, my favorite cookie is homemade oatmeal cranberry! Of course, I think only about half of the dough makes it into the oven!

  142. Nicole G

Oatmeal cookies definitely. Not with raisins though. I find it gets in the way of the oatmeal deliciousness =)

  143. Emily

My favorite cookie memory is my grandma’s cookie jar. Whenever we visited, the jar would be full, of not just one kind, but a variety of homemade goodies. Looking in the cookie jar was always one of the first things I would do when we arrived 🙂

Thanks for the giveaway! I’m always skeptical of products like these, but I have heard nothing but rave reviews for Nana’s.

  144. Megan Lucey

    Peanut butter cookies of course!!

  145. Megan Lucey

My favorite cookie memory would be coming home from school and the smell of freshly baked cookies-my mom is an amazing baker, it’s hard to find anything that beats her cookies!

  146. Lauren (Diary of a Vegan Girl)

I have to get me some of these!

  147. Marci

never tried nana’s. my favorite all time cookie is chocolate chip.

  148. Danielle

I love peanut butter cookies! The Nana’s variety looks awesome!

  149. Danielle

My favorite cookie memory is an annual tradition – my mom and I bake cookies for our local fire department during the holiday season and hand deliver them! Such fun!

  150. Sarah B.

I love chocolate chip cookies; they have always been my favorite!

  151. Sarah B.

My favourite cookie baking moment is of a cookie fail. It was my first time making cookies and I used salted butter AND I put in 1 tsp of salt instead of a 1/4 tsp of salt. They were pretty awful.

  152. Sarah B.

    I tweeted!

  153. kate

    Chocolate chip!

  154. Meghan N

My favorite cookie would be a peanut butter blossom cookie (with the hershey kiss on top)

  155. Courtney

My favorite cookie memory is probably baking cookies with my grandma when I was little…it was always SO hard to wait for them to cool so I could taste one!

    Courtney

  156. Meghan N

Every year my mom always waits for me to get home for Christmas to bake dozens upon dozens of different cookies to take to various parties and give to friends and family. It takes us all day and I always look forward to that day of catching up just the two of us, laughter and LOTS of raw cookie dough 🙂

  157. Courtney

My favorite cookie?! That is hard! It is a toss up between oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip. What can I say…I love the classics 🙂

    Courtney

  158. Alice

Favourite kind of cookie: coconut, oatmeal chocolate chip + cashews, bananas, and did I mention coconut? 😉

  159. Alice

One of my best friend is an awesome baker, so when I was leaving for a mission trip during march break, she baked me a whole batch for the plane ride! I never told her what my favourite kind of cookie was but she knew: oatmeal + chocolate chip + cashews! Now, whenever I go over to her house, we bake them together!

  160. kate

My little sister and I were helping my mom make a ton of Russian wedding cookies (with powdered sugar) one Christmas. When she went to answer the door for the UPS guy, we decided to have a food fight. She came back and we had decorated the kitchen with 3 bags of powdered sugar–it was a white christmas! 🙂

  161. maren

i’ve always loved ranger cookies, complete with corn flakes, pecans, and coconut! delicious

  162. Susie

I love good ol’ chocolate chip cookies, warm and straight from the oven!

  163. Susie

A cookie memory? Here’s a recent one–cooking at college (without a full kitchen, a pantry stuffed with all the fun ingredients I have at home, and with only the bare minimum as to cooking supplies) is always an adventure. My friend and I recently made improvised vegan sweet potato oatmeal breakfast cookies, mostly because we ran out of flour. They were still absolutely delicious, though!

  164. Rachel

fav cookie as a kid were rainbow cookies, they’re so pretty. I’m not sure what my favorite is now, but anything with chocolate is a heck yes from me

  165. Rachel

it’s hard to think of a cookie memory but I think I remember making thumbprint cookies with my aunts and grandma? I mostly have memories of eating cookies, haha

  166. Melissa

My favorite cookie would have to be oatmeal raisin…or chocolate peanut butter….its too hard to choose! There are so many good cookies out there!

  167. Melissa S

One of my cookie memories…when I was in high school and would stay over at my friends house, we would take toll house cookie dough and make 1 HUGE cookie! Mind you, we would do this around midnight…can you say sugar rush!!!

  168. Sherry

My favorite cookie is oatmeal chocolate chip cookie!! The best is right out of the oven!!

  169. Ashley

My fave is a traditional chocolate chip!

  170. Ashley

I recently messed up an entire sheet of cookies and no matter what I did I could not get them to harden…so the boyfriend and I smooshed it all together into one monsterous glob of half-baked goo and went to town with 2 spoons. Pretty awesome mess-up.

  171. Erin

My favorite cookie is straight-up chocolate chip, with perhaps a dash of almond extract added to the batter.

  172. Jenny

I love an old fashion chocolate chip cookie 😀

  173. Danielle J

    Oatmeal chocolate chip, yum 😀

  174. Danielle J

  176. emilie

i love white chocolate macadamia nut cookies!

  177. emilie

one year, my mom and i were making chocolate chocolate chip cookies for my sister’s birthday. i was about 7, and had an insatiable craving for cookie dough (i mean, who doesn’t?). the entire time we were baking, i was stealing finger-swipes of dough on the sly…or so I thought. just as the cookies were going in the oven, my mother looked up and saw my face–covered in chocolate dough. i even had it in my hair! needless to say: busted.

  178. BroccoliHut

I’ve always been intrigued by those cookies when I see them at Whole Foods–so glad to hear you liked them!
My favorite cookie is good old fashioned oatmeal raisin:)

  179. Karen

nothing beats sugar cookies…; they’re just soo yummy

  180. Kendra A

I have tons of food allergies (wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, cane sugar) so I was so excited when I found Nana’s Cookies! Going to more natural sugar substances is fine (versus high fructose corn syrup) but I wish that more places would embrace using other sweeteners like Nana’s does with their fruit juice sweetener! There are people like me out there who are allergic to cane sugar and there are tons of other natural sweeteners out there! That being said, I’m torn between the Berry Vanilla cookies and the Chocolate Munch cookies as being my favorite! And as for my favorite cookie making memory, has to be from all the Christmas’s I’ve made cookies for or with family. It started as a family tradition with my mom and sister when we were little and I have carried it on since then!

  181. Carol Belles

My favorite kind of cookie is chocolate chip with coconut!!

  182. Liz

I love chocolate chip cookies! I love kookie karma kooks and would love to find a new healthy(ish) brand!

  183. Carol Belles

One of my favorite memories is watching my kids decorate cookies at Christmas time for Santa Claus. They would carefully cut out the cookies, decorate them with sprinkles and leave them out on Christmas Eve with a glass of milk for Santa Claus.

  184. Kelsea

My favorite kind of cookie would either be oatmeal raisin or white chocolate macadamia nut.

  185. maryann

I was going to mention this too… but i love the idea!

  186. Liz C.

    I LOVE Ginger ❥ And the Lemon ❥ ♡♥❤☮

  187. Heather @ kissmybroccoli

Almond shortbread cookies are my absolute fave!

  188. Amanda

I have a hardcore love for cowboy cookies (oatmeal, peanut butter, chocolate chips, pecans, and coconut…) or my Best friends blueberry white chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. 🙂

  189. Heather @ kissmybroccoli

One of my favorite cookie baking memories was with my babysitter when i was around 9 or 10. We made homemade sugar cookies and then she gave me the food coloring and let me “tie dye” them after they were done baking. Such a mess but so much fun!

  190. Heather @ kissmybroccoli

    Just tweeted!

  191. Melissa

Great giveaway!!! My favorite cookie…homemade almond butter oatmeal cookies with goji berries and cocao nibs. So many different textures…YUMMY

  192. Kristie

Either straight up chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin would have to be my favs. I love the classics! And just cookies in general 🙂

Favorite kind of cookie is chocolate chip but Oreo or “cookies and cream” flavor is my all time fave.

  198. Mary Beth

Fave cookie memory: those 7 layer bars with the graham cracker crust, choc and butterscotch chips and coconut and caramel and….drool.

  199. Natalie

mmm peanut butter chocolate chip or the double chocolate chip cookies… i just love chocolate!

  200. Natalie

in high school, my friend and i filmed ourselves making chocolate chip cookies and made a “how-to” video with that. basically it was an excuse to eat lots of cookies! it was fun though!

  201. Natalie

    i tweeted!

  202. Tracy

i really love oatmeal cookies, and chocolate cookies!

  203. Valerie

My favorite cookie is a PB cookie!

  204. Rose

i have very fond memories of chocolate chip pecan oatmeal cookies… consumed warm out of the oven, as glorious gobs of dough, for breakfast the next morning with milk (because i was a masochist… but a happy one!)

i’m now vegan, and about a thousand times healthier than i was in times of cookie overconsumption… but cookie memories remind me of the women in my family, and girly sleep overs spent indulging in sugar and gilmore girls marathons. soooo sweet.

  205. alison

My favorite kind of cookies are PEANUT BUTTER. I’ll put peanutbutter on anything, so baked right in, YES PLEASE!

  206. Emily

That Coconut Chip looks and sounds DIVINE! I Love Nana’s as well! One of the better vegan cookies I’ve had. Thanks for the give away!

  207. Greta

My favourite cookie is probably chocolate fudge… Or, if that counts, plain cookie dough. Oh my god, that’s so good.
I would say that one of my best home made cookie memories is when I made these small carrot cake balls, with coconut butter drizzled on top. But then again, it happened today, so it might not actually be a memory yet…

  208. laceythevegan

My favorite cookies are the Ranger Cookies from Have Cake, Will travel. http://havecakewilltravel.com/2008/05/30/ranger-cookies/

Celine is a cookie genius I tell you, a genius.

  209. Charlotte

My favorite cookie is my grandma’s oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. I now make them vegan and gluten free and often have a hard time not eating all the dough, like my grandma taught me!

  210. Lauren

Love, love, LOVE Nana’s chocolate chip! It’s my favorite treat after a long day or just when I have a hankering for something sweet 🙂

My grandmother used to make homemade cookies with my little sister and me when we were young ‘uns 🙂 we’d pile on the icing and sprinkles into a big, gross mess and give them to her to eat. She was such a good sport!

    Now ill tweet about this!

  211. Briana

Oh my gosh, what a great giveaway! I LOVE peanut butter cookies. Especially when they are vegan 🙂

  219. Kelsey @ Unmitigated Grub

    LOVE peanut butter cookies!!

  220. Kelsey @ Unmitigated Grub

When I was little, I used to help my mom bake cookies and when she wasn’t looking I would sneak the dough and eat it with my long hair covering my face. I thought if I couldn’t see her, she wouldn’t be able to see me. She still embarrasses me with that story today! 🙂

NOW I just eat cookie dough out in the open!

  221. Kelsey @ Unmitigated Grub

    I tweeted 🙂

  222. Kelsey

    This is an awesome giveaway!

My current fav kind of cookie are funfetti cookies (yes, from a box) – they’re so addicting!

  223. Kaleigh

Just tweeted! I created a Twitter account finally….Just because of this! : )

  224. Sarah L

My very favorite cookie of all time is one that I buy every week from Whole Foods in Austin… it’s called a Big John cookie. It’s vegan and incredibly addicting! Gooey center: check! Extra dark chocolate chunks: check! Loaded with chocolate: check! Delicious: double check!

I haven’t ever seen them at any other WF, so if you’re ever in Austin, be sure and pick one up from the flagship store. Oh, they also sell the cookie dough in the frozen section. 🙂

  225. Natalie (The First Kitchen)

I looooove snickerdoodle, and also hot chocolate cookies!

  226. Natalie (The First Kitchen)

I remember making snickerdoodles with my mom during Christmas. My job was rolling the dough in the cinnamon sugar 🙂

  227. Natalie (The First Kitchen)

    And I tweeted 🙂

  228. Becky

Grandma’s peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chip – can’t go wrong with that combo! Ooh, but those Nana lemon cookies sound great!

  229. Ashley K

Oh geez, favorite cookie? That’s a tough call, I was obsessed with oatmeal raisin as a kid, but haven’t had one since becoming GF about 3 years ago. I made some killer chocolate cookies with chocolate chips the other day, so I will go with those. 🙂

  230. Ashley K

    A cookie memory:

My grandma makes some delicious clothespin cookies at Christmas, I remember going to town on those puppies every year when I was young. Mmmm….

  231. kathleen

Gluten free and vegan. Score! My favorite type of cookie is cocolate chip.

  232. sarah

favorite cookie? you mean i have to choose?
mmmm white chocolate macadamia nut is close to the top!

  233. sarah

    homemade cookie memorie:
my gal pal was having a bad day, so we decided to “bake” cookies. the cookies never made it to the oven, but damn that dough was delish!

  234. Yin

I’m going with the classic — chocolate chip cookies!

  235. justjac

Yum! I’m a classic chocolate chip cookie girl! 🙂

  236. Jackie

Double chocolate chip is my favorite kind of cookie!

  237. Jackie

Baking homemade chocolate chip cookies with my grandma is my favorite homemade cookie memories. When I was little, I was allowed to eat as many as I wanted when I went over to her house!

  238. Lacey

My favorite cookie is anything that combines peanut butter and chocolate. I’ve really grown to love the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls from Mama Pea – especially since my cookie dough rarely makes it into actual cookie form! 🙂

  239. LK

Oatmeal raisin…and that ginger cookie sounds divine.

  240. alyssa

my favorite kind of cookie is a twist on the “birkencookie” made by a local NH cookiedough company.
granola (oats, maple syrup, almonds, sunflower seeds, walnuts, sesame seeds, flax, molasses, cinnamon), cranberries, and cocoanut
    aww yeah!

  241. alyssa

i loved making no bake cookies with my dad when i was younger! setting the timer to have the ingredients boil for exactly 1 1/2 minutes- no more no less! and then transferring to some parchment paper and waiting for them to cool down enough to be solid.
if you didn’t time it right you’d end up having to scrape them up with a spoon and eat them- they still tasted delicious though!

  242. Sami

yes, please! my favorite type of cookie is a coconut macaroon. preferably hungry hippie style 😉 butttt nana’s look like they could take a close second!

  243. Sami

my favorite homemade cookie baking memory is our annual christmas cookie baking party 🙂 all the ladies in my family come over to bake dozens upon dozens of cookies…the recipes run deep in the family cookbook!

  247. April @ Grits & Granola Bars

My favorite cookie memory is this one day when the power went out in the middle of my grandmother making those no bake oatmeal/chocolate drop cookies. We popped them right into the fridge to firm up, but we certainly ate a few gooey ones first 😉

  248. Christine
