My two kinds of people

JK!  Not my Tesla!

My friend was sooo freaked out driving us to dinner in her car that she’d only had for a few hours but we made it there and back and the car is still in perfect condition.  Mission accomplished.

Dinner numero dos for our foodie crew (we need a name for ourselves!?!) was at Echo & Rig, a newly opened space in the Downtown Commons area of Sac.  Their original is in Vegas and this one is attached to the Sawyer Hotel right next to the new Golden 1 arena.  The Sawyer has a rooftop pool and bar that we were contemplating getting a night cap at after, but we shut the place down so maybe next time.

This area of Sac is getting quite hip!

I got the Euro Connection which was maybe the best cocktail I’ve ever had.  I didn’t know what amaro was but it’s an herbal liqueur that’s often used as a digestif.  It was so refreshing and summery and definitely my jam with the ginger and cucumber.

Next to it is the bubbles and berries, which I had a sip of and loved as well.  Both stellar options.

To start we got the Potato Gnocchi with Mint-Pea Pesto, the Grilled Octopus with Gigante Beans & Green Olives, and the Portobello Fries with Herb Aioli.  OH MY OH MY OH MY.  The portobello fries were the most unique and delicious things ever!!  Wow.  And the octopus!  So good with the olives and sauce!

Time to pick our meat!

Like the Vegas original, Echo & Rig is not your average steakhouse.  Sure, they do bomb steaks, but the veg forward side dishes and small plates are what makes it so special.  Still, it IS known for it’s steak.  So when in Rome!

This is the Spencer cut.  With house made potato chip (YUM) and a stuffed mushroom.

Everything was perfect.  The cut, the way it was cooked, the red wine demi that I got on the side.  All of it.

This is the house bread.

This is roasted pumpkin with rosemary and maple (FAVORITE DISH OF THE NIGHT!!).

As well as broccolini and mashed potatoes.

We also enjoyed a Rose that Amanda brought (her own winery).

What a great night!  We talked and talked and talked, and next thing I knew it was late and we were barely into our entrees!  When I forget about the food you know the company is next level.  I love these ladies and adore our time together…these are the kinds of nights that feed my soul and make me remember what it’s like to be a human with an identity outside of motherhood again.

Plus they are all 100% foodies that know everything about what’s going on in the dining scene – all over the Bay Area actually.  So, they are my people.

These are my people too <3

Look what we made!

I (heart) P & V.

Baked in the oven into deliciously fluffy bread rolls.

Needless to say this activity was a big hit.  I see more bread making in my kids’ future.
