Down to the pirate ship

When the weather is this sublime you have to enjoy it on the balcony.  Especially when the day before was torrential. This was the “face-time” juice from Choice (again).   I don’t have many photos from the morning but we walked down to the Westin to play at their kids swim area with a pirate ship. They had so much fun.  As awesome as all the Honua Kai pools are, I knew the Westin had the pirate ship similar to the one the Marriott had (where we were staying before) and they loved it. … Read more >

The downpour

After days of fake news (rainy forecasts that weren’t), the storm finally hit us on Monday. Another day, another acai bowl.  I drove to Lahaina again for this guy after my work out at the hotel gym.  Per usual, I phoned it in, watching tv on the Bravo app while going through the motions on the elliptical.  This is my vacation exercise routine and I love it. We had a typical morning at the pool, but it got cut a tad short because of some drizzle. For lunch I had the rest of the acai… Read more >

Easter Castles

I made Kyle start Little Fires Everywhere so I would have someone to discuss it with and he dove right in. Oh, and Happy Easter! We didn’t do baskets or egg hunts or anything because I just thought it would be easier to skip all that.  They are still young enough that we can do that so I am taking advantage.  Plus they aren’t around any of their friends so nobody can tell them what they missed out on.  We talked about what the day meant and celebrated with these fun little glasses my… Read more >

Honua Kai

The second place we stayed at was Honua Kai, which is just north of the new Westin complex (Nanea) in Ka’anapali and has Duke’s Restaurant at the poolside.  It’s pretty fancy shmancy.  We rented it on vrbo and it was perfect. Breakfast for the kids above, breakfast for the adults below. We drove over to Choice in Lahaina since our new spot isn’t walkable to Whaler’s Village.  I have no reason for it but I prefer the bigger store in Lahaina to the take away in the mall.   I want a Choice to open in Davis. … Read more >

That pool life

Weather forecasts are such a joke.  Foolishly, we keep looking and planning based on what we see and as it turns out, 99% of the time it’s sunny. So we have been living at the pool. I started the day with a green juice from Choice (I got it the night before when we were at Whaler’s Village for dinner).  The “face-time” has kale, cucumber, parsley, apple, lemon, ginger, and pineapple.  It’s sweet from the apple and pineapple, but not too sweet and has ginger and greens so you know that makes my belly happy.  I’m… Read more >
