What I Ate

Going back to the old school “what I ate in a day” style posting for the day because I took photos of it all!  And why not! First things first, iced coffee.  I use the previous day’s (leftover) coffee and add coconut sugar (melted in warm water) and almond milk.  Then I toss in some ice and hit the road.  Off on a walk with my little man.  We have a few different route options but his favorite, of course, is the one that passes the farms with a horse and goats.  They are a few blocks apart,… Read more >

A true story about their sausages

I discovered True Story sausages at Costco right after we re-introduced meat into our diet and thought they sounded like a great company with some great products. You can read the package above, but the clean ingredients had me sold and the economics were pretty stellar too (Costco sells them in 3 individual packs of 4 – we store the extras in the freezer). In winter I used them in stews but P couldn’t really gnaw on them with his little nubbins of teeth.  Now he’s a full on machine with his molars doing their thang, so naturally,… Read more >

My highlights: week 29

Whoops!  A little late on this one! Lots of fun this [past] week!  So much so that I don’t have many photos of it.  I guess that’s the true sign that life is being lived.  I’ll be hanging out with friends and our babies and I’ll go home with zero photos on my phone’s camera.  Anyway, here are a few moments I did manage to capture. As soon as I showed pacman this praying mantis, all he wanted was to touch it.  Which he obviously did. We snuck cider into the pool and toasted while… Read more >

The weekly menu

This week’s menu was mostly Kyle’s requests. Since he’s been gone for work a lot (and is gone almost all of this week too) I like making him the food that he wants while he’s here.  Last trip he got 99% of his food from Starbucks (!!).  I don’t care how much you like those wraps, nobody likes them days on end.  So here’s what he wanted… This was my first time having buffalo sauce and I’m not sure if it was as good as the hype had made it out to be in my mind. That said,… Read more >

Nature’s Path allergy response

I recently contacted Nature’s Path, a brand I love and support, about their products and labeling. You see, they have some awesome looking gluten free products (cereals mainly) that I’d love to buy for P as an infrequent “treat” option.  It’s hard to make my own everything, so I’m being honest and acknowledging the fact that it may not be the “hippie”-est of things, but it’s realistic.  Thus far I haven’t really given patty-cakes much in the way of prepared food because of the risks of cross contamination, but I fear his meals are getting boring… Read more >
