My highlights: weeks 9 & 10

Whoa, I don’t know where to begin.   What. A. Vacation. I highly highly recommend Australia to any and every one looking for vacation ideas.  Sydney is probably not a place I would have considered if my sister didn’t live there, but it’s such a friendly, fun, beautiful city.  Good thing we just bought a house because I can definitely see why my sister lives there and would consider making a move myself had we not locked life down in Davis (I can practically hear my parents sighing as they read this). The food, the… Read more >

[more] omni meals for the family

Leading up to our trip, I tried to make the most of what we had leftover in the kitchen and freezer.  The meals were mostly huge salads with grains – my effort to be cheap and use up every single perishable item in the house so nothing went to waste.  As you can imagine, these weren’t the most inventive or exciting meals (also they were insanely repetitive) so I didn’t bother taking pics.  I did, however, have photos of some of our dinners from the previous week that I never got around to sharing…so here… Read more >

NuNaturals giveaway

I have a special treat to share.  It’s a sweet one! I used it in this recipe.   And this one. Body Revolution

Ever since I mentioned that I received Jillian Michaels’ Body Revolution for Christmas, I have gotten a few questions about how I’m liking it and if I’d recommend it. In a word, YES!   I love it.  I love what she has done to take my fitness to the next level (which wasn’t a major step since I was still barely making my way back into the scene after having P).  In all honesty, I’m surprised at how much better this workout program is than her other DVDs, because I looooove her other ones so… Read more >

Quinoa with the works

I made this the other night and it was so good I had to share.  Sorry about the lack of measurements or precise anything, but I’m sure you can figure it out. Inspired by this stuffing (I guess I’m still in winter comfort food mode), I roasted butternut squash, brussels, and apples. Then I tossed them with sage and thyme. Meanwhile, I had quinoa cooking in the rice cooker (I used vegetable broth instead of water which made a big difference in flavor).    I added the quinoa to the veggies, then added pepitas and… Read more >
