Soy Goddess

Last month I fell in love with kelp noodles and I swore that day that I would soon recreate the dish that sparked this love. Remember this gorgeous meal?  Thank you Chaco Canyon for blowing my mind with the ginger sesame bowl and introducing me to kelp noodles. I wasted no time trying to track down these elusive noodles.  Whole Foods hooked it up. Sea Tangle makes kelp noodles that I found near the seafood counter in the weird ocean products section at Whole Foods. As you can can’t really see, they are stored in… Read more >

The stork dropped off my baby

I was literally jumping up and down with excitement this morning while the FedEx man watched with concerned awe. I own a FOOD PROCESSOR!!!!!!! Months ago when we were filling out our wedding registry, I jokingly referred to this appliance as “the reason we are getting married.”  And since then, it has become clear to Kyle that it was less of a joke than he initially thought… Of course, I’m (mostly) kidding.  I love Kyle with all my heart.  But I’m also a huge foodie and have felt seriously limited for the past few years… Read more >

Lacking Noodles

I mentioned long ago that our Eugene, Oregon experience wasn’t the most amazing…in fact, I wasn’t even sure it was worth posting about.  But I figured a restaurant review, whether good or bad, is still something others can benefit from.  So here’s the quick and dirty on our one night in Track Town, USA. Despite Tiff’s helpful research (including Yelp! print-outs for vegan friendly restaurants), the dining options in Eugene were beyond minimal.  Each place we went to was closed.  One after another.  In fact, the entire town seemed completely deserted!  It was weird and… Read more >

Sweet-tea-pie

Kyle’s originally from the south.  Lucky for me, he moved to CA early enough in his formative years that the only things that have stuck with him from the ATL are his charm, his manners, and his love for sweet tea.  Since I could (and do) suck the stuff down by the pitcher, I decided to attempt a sugar-free version that still tastes sweet enough for Kyle, but is also not too sweet for me.  It turned out pretty well!  And since it was good enough to satisfy my southern gentleman, hopefully it’s good enough… Read more >

Chickpea pasta

I went gaga over the fresh, local produce at Whole Foods the other day.  The prices were right and it only took a few minutes for a recipe to come to mind.   No sense in using jarred sauce when you’ve got fresh tomatoes aplenty.  First, I threw half an onion on the pan to get a nice sauté base going.  Once they were brown I added in a can of chickpeas (and ~1/4 of the liquid). I let it simmer together for a while before spicing it up. No measurements were used, but I… Read more >
