The weather outside is frightful

And yet, I’m still forcing us to go out and blow off some steam every afternoon.

It’s not actually that bad yet, but 50 can feel pretty cold after an hour or two. The kids don’t seem to mind at all, but unless I’m playing soccer with them, I’m too cold to last longer than that. Luckily the yard is now perfect for them, so once I have hit my limit at the park behind our house I can throw them in the backyard and watch from inside (usually while I get to work on dinner).

Speaking of our yard…look what our contractor sent us!

I love me a gift basket and this one was such a pleasant surprise. And since Kyle is out of town, I got to dig in all by myself! Muahahaha. There will be nothing left by the time he gets back. 😛

I mean…yes please!?

I got to work immediately that evening. The peppermint bark was SO GOOD. It had the perfect ratio of dark to white chocolate and peppermint on top! It is definitely a contender for the best thing in the box (I haven’t tried everything yet).

The milk chocolate truffle was really rich. Also a favorite!

I can’t wait to try more. I don’t know how I feel about fruit cake, but the fancy pears underneath it all are looking PRISTINE! Harry & David really do a great job!

If you have ever gotten a gift basket, what’s the best thing that was in it?

The Harry & David pears! I don’t know why they’re so good, but they are.
