What I’m loving

I have a few recent obsessions

Orange in chocolate.

Ever since the TJs christmas chocolate oranges I can’t get enough of this pairing.  I’m not big on citrus outside of this, so it’s odd.  Anyway, the Lindt bar in the center above was the best of the bunch.

Thrive Market.  If I’m not their number one fan, I don’t know who is.  That link gives you 15% off your first order FYI.

BARnana dark chocolate chewy banana bites!

I got these at Costco on a whim and they ARE SOOOOOO GOOD.  I just discovered they are sold on Thrive too so you know I already re-ordered them.  I need the Costco size bag though to be honest, so I will probably re-buy them at Costco next time I’m there too.

Jamba Juice!

IMG_3517IMG_3516

First off, they have pitaya fruit.  That’s so cool.  Second, they have their own organic juices.  Even more cool.

But the best thing about them by FAR is how allergy conscious they are.  They have peanut free blenders and dairy free blenders and they are very knowledgeable about which smoothies and juices are safe for various allergies (at least the Davis location is).

I got a spinach carrot apple chia seed drink the other day that made me feel so good.  And because I felt so confident in the staff’s ability to keep contamination away, I even gave the last sip to P.

Kyle and I are going!  My mom is going to stay and watch the kiddos and we are going to get our Serial on at the live event with Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder.  I’m not really into season 2, but I’m still following the current updates on Adnan’s case.  Can’t wait to hear what they say about it all!

The dark chocolate bananas look so good! Thanks for sharing the discount code. I used to stay away from Jamba Juice because of their high calorie smoothies, but I’ve found myself visiting more often than expected recently. It’s awesome that they have more green smoothies and cold pressed juices now! Also, can’t wait for you to share about the cookbook.

I agree! I think they are doing a great job getting away from the typical offerings (sugary fruit bombs) and getting more greens and veggies in their items. It’s nice.

Insanely jealous you are going to the Serial event! I hope you have a blast!

Well huh, it’s been a long time since i was in a jamba juice – sounds like they have some great new menu items!
I can’t remember if you have your own juicer but either way costco was carrying the Suja organic brand green juice (actually green one minimal fruit) in a big bottle, maybe 32oz? It’s been a while since my last trip there but it was a great price of course
I had a dark chocolate covered orange rind phase for a while, I suspect you would like those.

I saw that one last time I was there but have never tried the exact kind it was – i think super greens or something like that? Have you tried it? Is it good? Does it have parsley or cucumber as a main flavor? I always find one of those is in green drinks that are mostly veg (the kind I prefer) and while they aren’t enough to completely rule them out for me, they aren’t my favorite. I do have a juicer though. I just suck at making the time to make juice and clean it. Also bulk veggies aren’t much cheaper than just buying juices every once in a while. So many thoughts, haha.

It was the suja “mighty greens”, actually 64oz size! I wanna say like $10 or something like that. Definitely cucumber flavor to it but generally well rounded- enough apple to take the edge off but not sweet at all. I actually would add a minipinch of salt and a bunch of fresh ground black pepper to my to go bottle with it which gave it a nice savory punch. I have an awesome breville juicer i love but in the winter veggies are damned $$$ in nyc so I don’t make as much..

good to know! out of season produce is ridiculous even here in the middle of farm land so i can only imagine what it is there. P keeps requesting various summer fruits and im like we have to wait until the right season! not that you can even find organic grapes here right now, but still, if i did they’d likely be $$$$$$$$$$. so yeah, no dice little man. youre gonna learn how seasons work and eat local and (hopefully?) appreciate those straberries even more when you get them in their peak yumminess in july.
