Puddles

It drizzled yesterday.  Not very much though.  No puddles to be seen.  Rain in LA makes me laugh now that I’ve lived in NYC.  Los Angeles shuts down at the mere mention of the dreadful “chance of showers” forecast.  People literally don’t do anything when it’s wet out.  I know because I used to be one of those people.  I made my roommates drive me (the 1/2 mile walk) to campus in college.  That is, if I decided to go to class.  For a discussion section I’d probably brave the elements.  But if I had a lecture, chances are I’d skip it rather than try and find my umbrella.  I was such a pansy!

This post is not about rain though.  It’s about puddles.

Puddles of butter.

Because lately, I can’t seem to get enough of Earth Balance in huge melty amounts.

On toasty bread.

On warm doughy bagels.

On hot rolls.

On hash browns.

Literally any and every carb has been drenched (a word I don’t use lightly) in vegan butter.

I’ll spare you a crazy long montage.  Suffice it to say Earth Balance is good stuff and I seem to be in a rut.  No shame.  Please note, this wasn’t a 24 hour butter bender.  I have been doing this daily for a few weeks in a row.  I guess there’s comfort in routine?

What’s your latest food rut?

Rain in LA is cute!! I like how everyone hides inside… I should have baked something….

I seem to be in “I’m too lazy to cook a laborious meal, so I’ll throw a few things together and call it dinner” rut. Lately I’ve been obsessed with roasted broccoli + brown rice + nutritional yeast sauce. Last night I actually cooked a real meal for me and my boyfriend and it stressed me out.

Haha, you call that rain? Try living in Oregon, and then we can talk about rain. If things were to shut down because of a little bit of falling water, well then nothing would ever get done. They say you can tell who the tourists are around here because they’re the ones carrrying umbrellas. People here still ride their bikes everywhere, even if it’s pouring. I am not one of those people, but I’ve definitely demoted my umbrella to the back of my closet.
P.S. Deep down, I envy you for living in sunny southern California. I hate the weather here!

    That roll looks so delicious!!!!
I’ve never had earth balance before but every week I contemplate buying it at the grocery store!

My latest food rut is roasted green beans!

Ezekial bread. I have eaten a sandwich for dinner every night for a week. It’s so good toasted!

True on rain in this area too, since it hardly rains it’s a huge thing. Makes me laugh after living in Florida. 🙂 Yum on Earth Balance, I haven’t gotten into it much yet, but it looks amazing on bread. Lately it’s been popcorn with coconut oil and salt for me.

It cracks me up every single time it rains around here. People literally don’t know what to do. (Not to mention, they forget how to drive!)
Earth Balance is so addicting. I’ve been putting it on everything lately too! I’ve also been stuck in a rice bowl rut. (Very similar to your “hippie bowls”. Veggies, tofu or tempeh, and rice or quinoa, all drenched in whatever dressing I choose that day. So simple and delicious- I can’t get enough!

My latest food rut has been The Fitnessista’s breakfast cookie dough cereal. I ate it for breakfast and lunch today. I also have eaten it for breakfast every single day for almost a month and a half. lol.

Haha, this is awesome! I alternate between savory and sweet comfort eats, and a GF english muffin slathered in butter is definitely one of my savory choices! Your puddles are impressive. Haha!

I LOVE EB! My rut that is not going anywhere is whole wheat toast, peanut butter, agave & a lot of chia seeds.

Girl, I do the same thing with Earth Balance butter. Have you tried their coconut spread? It’s my new drug of choice

Mmmm…those puddles look amaaaaazing 🙂 so so good! Loving your carb action with vegan meltiness.
My current rut (one that I am very fond of!) is acai berry and blueberry oatmeal with coconut butter melted on top. Soooo scrumptious. I got 3 big bags of acai berry powder for Christmas, so it’s a rut I’ve been pushed into, lol! 😛 No complaints! 😉 xyx

Sounds like a great rut tho; I love that one,

I’m just breaking free of a soy yoghurt and cereal rut and revisiting oats again. x
