Hearts and kisses (& a giveaway winner)

And all that mushy LOVE stuff. Right?  🙂 Truth be told, I’m pretty neutral on the whole Valentine’s thing…love it, hate it, love to hate it, whatever!  I think it’s clichĂ© either way you look at it.  Side note: I used to think Valentine’s was so lame, so for the first two years that Kyle and I were dating I wouldn’t go out with him on the 14th because I just felt so hypocritical changing my tune once I had a BF.  This year, I consciously requested the day off of work, but I still… Read more >

Loco for coco giveaway

If it’s a Valentine’s Day present you’re looking for, it’s a present you’re gonna get. When I made this vegan triple coconut “cheesecake” a couple of weeks ago, several people commented that they had no clue where to get coconut flour. Ask and you shall receive. Tropical Traditions has offered to give one lucky reader a 1 kg bag of organic coconut flour (identical to what I used in this recipe). My recipe is crazy good, but there are so many other delicious ways to use coconut flour. I’ve been adding it to my oats… Read more >

It’s a bird, it’s a plane…

I love my new camera.  Love it!  It’s pure bliss having a toy that takes such pretty pictures. The only negative aspect of having a Canon Rebel DSLR is lugging it around (point-and-shoot cameras definitely have the convenience factor of size and portability working to their advantage). Truth be told, camera cases are hideous.  While borrowing my mom’s this winter, I realized I never brought it out at night because of this aesthetic issue.  And such a fine camera should never be left at home.  What’s a girl to do?! Solution: camera bags that are… Read more >

A little bit of everything

H is for hemp… Hemp protein powder, that is.  I got this sample from NutsOnline a month ago but wasn’t really sure what to do with it. Good thing I remembered it when “h” day rolled around for my alphebruary challenge. I used 1 tbsp of it in a smoothie because I was nervous about how strong the flavor would be. I liked it so much I made it again the next day, too.  Yes, it’s a little gritty.  But I kinda liked the gritty texture.  I’m not generally a big protein powder gal (if… Read more >

Garbanzo Goop

The reason this post was (is) delayed is because my “g” recipe sucked.  Alphebruary is getting hard!  Turns out there are some letters without very many food options.  I had heard you could make hummus out of garbanzo flour, and frankly I had my doubts going into it (should probably have tuned into that intuition).  But then I thought, hummus really is just garbanzo beans…and the flour is just a different form of the stuff… Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble.   I started this little garbanzo flour journey by following the recipe on the Bob’s Red… Read more >
