The first pumpkin patch of the season

In the last week TWO of my friends have bought the instant pot as a direct result of how much I’ve been raving about it. And I still don’t have one!!  WAH!  All the recipes I keep flagging are instant pot recipes too.  I need to get a grip. [Update: it’s in my cart, I’m pulling the trigger as soon as Kyle gets home on Friday and I can confirm that he didn’t get me one for my birthday.  I’m hoping he got it for me, but he doesn’t read the blog so he doesn’t really know the extent of my obsession.]  Can someone plan next week’s meals for me, por favor.  I’m pooped.  Ok, done whining.  Let’s get down with the food stuffs.

Breakfast

Lunch

Dinner

Dessert

Unpictured: coffee with coconut milk (still out of Califia, still haven’t gone to the store), more roasted almonds with lunch, extra truffle after the dessert plate was finished

V and I went to Jamba Juice after library.  They have new pumpkin drinks out that I may have to go back to try.

He fell asleep after his quiet time when he came to hang out with me in the living room…school definitely tires him out.  But I woke him up shortly thereafter because we had a play date planned for the pumpkin patch.

It was 90 degrees soooooo…not very Fall-like.  But still fun.

I scored some big pumpkins.

The corn bin was way bigger than it has been in past years.  V was more interested in testing her balance though.

I was hot and dirty and ready to go but then they started up the “cow ride” (tractor pulling cow carts) and I figured why not?  These are the moments that my kids will remember, right?

Honestly, I thought it was a blast, but it was definitely fast and bumpy.  V got scared half way through (and it was a looong ride with lots of wheelies and dirt hill speed bumps, etc) so that shows you how wild the ride was (she’s my fearless one!).

He was super into it though, and pointed out every ghost, skeleton, witch, and what have you along the way.

We were all covered in dirt by the end 🙂

But we came home with three pumpkins, two spider rings, and three smiling faces, so it was for sure a win.

Definitely a bath before dinner kind of night though.

Leftovers met with enthusiasm!  Thinking I may as well wait for the weekend to go shopping at this point…especially if we go to farmer’s market.  I think I can stretch our fridge and pantry stash until then. Challenge accepted.

My mom just bought me an instant pot for my upcoming birthday! It just arrived two days ago and I need all the recipes. Where are you finding them? I know nom nom paleo has a few. I’ve been making yogurt in our crockpot and I have a feeling that after I get the hang of the instant pot that my poor crock pot will get kicked to the curb. Can’t wait till you get one and share some recipes, too!

Just an FYI, I resisted the Instant Pot too because I didn’t want yet another appliance. What finally made me decide to “bite the bullet” was a Kohl’s sale. I got mine for $55 out the door on kohls.com with a 30% off coupon and free shipping (plus I may have had some Kohl’s cash, $10 or less). Same one on Amazon is $129.99. How could I resist a deal?

I still prefer the slow cooker for some things, and have yet to try making yogurt, but it’s fun to experiment and try new things.

    Enjoy!

I don’t think i would ever really use an instapot even if someone gave it to me… maybe for beans like one a week or whatever but then again i’m not cooking meats and i think that’s what their strength is

The pumpkin patch looks like a blast! It’s been weird warm in nyc this week, supposed to cool off this weekend but it’s so weird to have to have it be fall and see pumkins and all i want is watermelon and ice cream.
I am positive that between your pantry and freezer and garden you could cook for another week without a grocery store trip, you are always so resourceful!

What’s V eating above? It looks like one of my rice, avo, shredded veggies lunch bowls. I love them. Btw, your morning bread pictured above looks GLAM, if one can use that word for food, but from one foodie to another you get it. Also, used your recipe and made the bread and it is fabulous!!! Definitely a keeper. I see what you mean about it not lasting too long. I have an insta pot and will definitely say I cook like you and it is extremely useful and meals come out perfect each time. I know your getting one. I can tell lol. Have a great weekend.🌈😎

GIRL! You speak my language. Thanks for the email by the way. I can’t wait to dig in deeper. V is eating an avo brown rice field roast mash up. It’s a staple 🙂 Glad you like the bread recipe. PS I just ordered an instant pot.

I think you’re right that quick cooking meat is the main draw for an instant pot. I did manage to skip the store! Definitely planning on using the freezer stash for the weekend too.

Yay! Thanks Kim. Any good websites or cookbooks you’ve found to be good for the instant pot??

I joined the facebook group for instant pot users – there are a bunch but I think I picked the two most populated. I am asking for the new nom nom paleo cookbook (ready or not) for my birthday because it looks like the reviews are good for instant pot recipes. Also, I’ve been eyeing “instant pot obsessed”. Beyond that, I guess blogs and pinterest??? I’ll share any good ones I make if you do too, okay??
