So many birthdays!

I’m royally sore today.  It must be the rollercoasters (because I didn’t work out yesterday).  Unless you consider shoving toddlers out of the way to get to the front row of the parade a workout…not that I did that.  For breakfast I wanted something cool and something crunchy.  So I went with a smoothie topped in granola.  The smoothie had frozen strawberries, soymilk, Antioxidant Natural Greens, and ice.  With Love Grown Clusters of Oats on top.  It was great, but I was really just passing the time until lunch.  Why so stoked for my mid-day… Read more >

Two on, one off

I don’t have a particularly fantastic work schedule at the moment, but at least I’m on day shift for the entire month.  So I’m certainly not complaining! After a sweaty morning sesh with Jillian, I enjoyed a scone before heading into the office hospital.  Here’s the stash I brought along. What a snack scene!    That would be, dehydrated apple rings, dark chocolate covered edamame, candied ginger, Nature’s Path Chococonut bar, mini PB cookie Larabar, mixed dried fruit, and a baggie of home-made cereal/nut/dried fruit trail mix.      Breakfast number two was oats with a… Read more >

The mystery pasta

You guys are HILARIOUS!  I loved the guesses about my pasta’s hidden ingredients.  To back up a bit.  A few days ago, I had a typical oatmeal breakfast with strawberries, raisins, and peanut butter.   But then I added Love Grown Raisin Almond Crunch Oat Clusters of Love…    All I have to say is: damn.    This is definitely their best flavor – and that’s saying a lot because I friggin’ adored their other granola flavors (especially cocoa).   I couldn’t stop.  Next thing I knew, I saw the bottom of the bag.  Yikes!  Needless… Read more >

The Misfit

I woke up Saturday feeling slightly nauseous.  It was rather unpleasant.  I actually felt a little sick when I went to bed Friday night, but I figured I’d just sleep it off…not the case.  Upon waking, I was instantly queasy.  [Note: I’m not pregnant] I had no appetite whatsoever (and nothing sounded good to me at ALL) and I even felt a little full from the previous day.  But at the same time, my stomach felt empty and hollow, like it needed something to cushion it from eating itself.  Apparently it’s possible to be both… Read more >

Tropical meets comfort

When I think of island vacation getaways, I think of coconuts.  When I think of winter comfort cooking, my mind goes to butternut squash.  So why not combine the two?  Oh yes I did. The base of the dish was made and then frozen nearly a month ago…back when my friend gave me two cases of butternut squash. I used the slow cooker, adding an entire butternut squash (cubed) and a box of Vita Coco coconut water and leaving it alone for 4 hours to do it’s thang.  Before and after. Then I tupperwared it… Read more >
