Birthday week fun

My birthday week started last weekend with apple picking. After that we headed to lunch at Mendocino Farms.  As much as I love the place, it’s not conveniently located for me.  But since we had already been in the car for well over an hour, we figured what’s an extra few miles out of the way? Kyle got the Modern Tuna Melt which has “all white Albacore tuna with fresh herbs, farm house cheddar, vegenaise, housemade pickles, red onions, tomatoes, Scarborough Farm’s greens on panini grilled buckwheat.”  He nixed the pickles, obviously, and deemed it… Read more >

Vegan Chocolate Brownies

These are the product of an extreme baking binge a few weeks ago.   The only reason I held off in sharing them was because I hadn’t tried them (and therefore didn’t know how they’d turned out).  If you’ve read my blog for any amount of time, you know I’m not one to practice self restraint, so allow me to clarify why I waited a week to try my own baking… I had three other treats (maple oat muffins, banana bread and chocolate chip cookies) already filling my daily sweet quota.  And since each was… Read more >

12 miles/hr

Here’s a fun little “would you rather.” It’s pretty much the question that most Angelinos face on a daily basis.  Would you rather drive or ride your bike for 12 miles?  What if I told you the cycling route would be a guaranteed 60 minute commute, but you may or may not be in your car for 1-2 hours?  Welcome to my life. I chose the bike.   My parents are in So Cal this week to see all the new babies in the fam, so on Monday night they took us out to dinnah…. Read more >

Seattle continued: Sisters and Skewers

Top of the mornin’ evening to ya!  Day two of our Seattle adventures started with more java loading from The ‘Bucks.  Tall for me, grande for my beau.  How cute is it that Kyle’s drink of choice now is a soy misto? After a liquid kick in the pants, we decided to get ed-ju-ma-cated on the history of Seattle.  Creeping through the depths of downtown worked up quite an appetite.  Lunch time! Initially we had our sights set on an African place called Pan Africa Restaurant on 1st Ave.  We browsed the menu when we… Read more >

A productive trip home

It’s no secret, I love trips home.  West Coast sunshine, family and friends…can’t get enough!  This trip was jam packed, due to Kyle’s birthday celebration and an insane amount of wedding planning.  Since I have photos up the hoo-ha, I’ll try to avoid the mundane (read: heaps of Stacy’s pita chips and hummus), such as this: And show you only the highlights, like this: Brewskies and cake.  Now that’s a trip home! As I mentioned before, Friday was Kyle’s birthday, so we celebrated all day long.  The key to having a fabulous birthday is having… Read more >
