tempeh time

‘Aight kids, I’ve been meaning to take a stab at tempeh for a while now, so after going through tons of recipes, I decided I should prob start with something on the more simple side.  You know, get a feel for how this baby cooks, before I sink my teeth into a more “meaty” recipe (excuse the pun, I couldn’t resist).  Here are some good websites for anyone else interested in doing a little experimenting in the tempeh department: Lightlife recipes, tempehinfo, and 101 cookbooks.  I decided to go with BBQ tempeh… Since I’d never… Read more >

bad timing

Ugh.  Of all the mornings to wake up without coffee, this was def poor planning on my Kyle’s part (just kidding, I’m obviously the one that finished it and didn’t buy more).  Clearly, a trip to Starbucks was the first task of the day. Nothing makes me happier than the smell of freshly brewed coffee in the AM.  Nothing!  We got the House Blend (with a free cup of joe).  Kyle headed off to MM, so I made myself some toast and sipped my coffee (only way to nurse a hang over).  I kinda burnt… Read more >

Kirsten who?

Adios Caroline, hello Sen. Gilliweed.  Ok, ok, that’s not her last name…it’s actually a Harry Potter reference, but it’s kinda close?  Sen. score for me

Here’s how the gym went down:  45 mins of elliptical 45 mins – alternating between forward and backwards, level 10-12 15 mins of spinning – positions 1-3 based on the song 10 mins of tread mill – walking cool down 15 mins of stretching, abs, and arms on the mat Once I got home I snacked on an apple and a handful of figs, then showered, blow dried, piled on 22 layers, and prepared myself for the Brrrr.  Above is a Calimyrna fig, below is a Turkish fig. What’s the difference?  I had NO idea… Read more >

sinus tach!

Ok, first things first – here is a photo of the coconut date rolls I was raving about yesterday. I had 3 last night, and the remaining 3 for dessert tonight (so mentally insert this picture again later after dinner). They are so dense! I have been looking FOREVER for these deliciously sweet snacks. In the past, every time I have seen coconut date rolls there have been almonds in the ingredients (yuck!) which immediately ruins them in my opinion…so I am excited beyond words to have finally discovered this new health food store that… Read more >
