House-warming & Memorial weekend

This past (long) weekend was important for family time because Kyle headed back out of town for business on Tuesday morning (after being away the previous week).  Gotta soak it up for the few days he’s around!  I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t hard, but since his start-up is young and fragile, it’s important to take advantage of these opportunities so the company will continue to thrive.  Growing pains are good.  As I type this he is en route to Colorado…10 hours into the 18.5 hour drive.  Ouch. So anyway.  Saturday. He slept… Read more >

Quinoa Bean Burger

Most of the time I make veggie burgers I don’t measure the ingredients (because I’m often in fridge scraping mode, trying to use up whatever odds and ends are on their last legs). The drive home and the day on campus

I made a major mistake and didn’t say decaf when I ordered this (venti soy misto) before we hit the road to come home from NorCal. The rest of the road trip was similar to the first one – Kyle and I traded off driving duties and our little man slept 99% of the time. I packed up our eats again.  Similar as always. Brown rice, half an avocado, & two hard boiled eggs with a nooch… Read more >

Touring Davis

As I alluded in the last post, we had a road trip planned for the next day in Nor Cal.  Boy oh boy are we pushing our luck with all these long car rides with an infant! But this is what he does most of the time so we are really lucky (so far).  Fingers crossed. I packed lots of food for us so we could hit the road early (basically right after we had both showered and I’d breastfed P).   Kyle and I both had similar breakfasts, but his was sandwiched between some… Read more >

A weekend of firsts

This past weekend was the first time in a couple of years that I skipped Expo West.  I had a ticket and everything, but I just didn’t see the point in trying to make it work.  I guess this is evidence that my priorities have shifted.  I like free samples and keeping on pulse with the latest natural food trends, but I like family bonding time more.  Lucky for me, my in-laws were there to scout out the scene in my absence.  They reported back and then some…with tons of samples for me to review. … Read more >
