Asian Hummus Tempeh Stir-fry

Sometimes when I work night shifts, I forget to make dinner for Kyle.  I usually realize it around 5 pm – right about the time I should be packing up my stuff and heading to the hospital.  This isn’t a tragedy by any means, he’s a great cook, and could certainly make a good meal for himself.  But I like making things easy for him when he gets home from a long work day (and hideous commute).  Plus, it makes me happy (and I know he loves it).    Doesn’t this look gourmet?  I’m sure… Read more >

A wedding and a bump

Where oh where to begin.  Last weekend was so full. On Thursday we drove home via the glorious I-5.  If I had to guess how much of my life I’ve spent on that drive… So Thursday morning I got up early because I had a few things I wanted to get done before the commute home.  First, breakfast. Another vegan tofu “scramble” with a sliced peach on the side (as if you couldn’t figure out what that fruit was). And my folate, DHA and iced tea.  Naturally. After breakfast, I ran some errands, and then… Read more >

Our early celebration

Well, you guys have blown me away.  The comments on this post literally brought tears to my eyes…I felt so much love.  I want to say thank you to every single one of you who wished us congratulations (and I will get to it…).  Obviously Kyle and I are beyond thrilled and it’s been sooo hard to keep this a secret (I’m shocked nobody was on to me earlier!).  I will probably blog more about the earlier pregnancy stuff in time, but for now back to regular posting… *************** Since we were away this weekend… Read more >

Wedding, Beach & Tennis

What a weekend. It all started with a Friday wedding. Ok, actually it all started with a really awesome breakfast.   Oats topped in a perfectly fried egg and avocado. Kyle came home from work early, so I got to eat lunch with him, which was a nice change in routine. I had Amy’s golden lentil soup.  It was stellar!  I have already gone to the store to get another can, that’s how much I loved it.  I think this is now the best Amy’s soup I’ve ever tried. On the side I had carrots… Read more >

Things from my childhood

I made a comment last week to Kyle about how the 4th of July and watermelon always make me think of Pollyanna.  He didn’t really respond and then a few minutes later mentioned he didn’t know who or what I was talking about.  When I said it was a movie, he claimed he’d never seen it.  [What!?!?] Growing up, Pollyanna was pretty high in the rotation at our household.  Along with The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, The Music Man, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, The King and I, and Fiddler on the Roof. So now… Read more >
