Day 3: this Christmas

WEEEEE!!!!  I can say without a doubt, Christmas morning as a parent is better than Christmas morning as a kid.  I went to bed SO EXCITED for them to wake up and see the cookies all gone and open their stockings.

P was nervous that Santa wouldn’t come if he was sleeping on the couch, so he crept into our bed at some point in the middle of the night.  Cutie pie.  Pretty sure Santa had already come at that point 😉

They were both up SOOO early, but we got them back to sleep between 4 and 5 am.  Around then though, they remembered it was Christmas and urged us to get out of bed and go to the fireplace.  [Thank goodness our hotel room had a fireplace because P was asking SO MANY questions about the logistics lading up to our vacation and I was worried I was going to forget what I’d told him or Kyle and I wouldn’t have matching enough stories…]

Toothpaste!  And stickers!!  🙂

All V wanted was a pillow and P asked Santa to “surprise him” so Santa had a pretty easy gig.

While Kyle and I worked out, we did crafts from their stockings to pass the time.

We ordered room service for brekkie (which was basically our only option because most places were closed on the 25th), but I had the sinful cinnamon roll from the day before too.

OHHHHHHH MYYYYYY GAHHHHHHH.

OMG OMG OMG.  Cinnamon roll lover for life. This is what vacation is about, ya know?

Living their best life.

We hung out at the resort all day, lounging by the pool, playing, and soaking up the time away from reality.  Kyle and I got salads from the hotel’s (super overpriced) marketplace.  The salads actually weren’t crazy expensive, despite the rest of the stuff being insane.

Oh LA, you are a funny funny place.

Caesar salad in the sunshine.

For dinner we had reservations at Chandler’s at Cape Rey.

Christmas buffet with allllll the eats.

I don’t even know where to start in describing the yummy stuff they had.

The main courses included a lentil butternut squash dish, honey glazed ham, roasted chicken, sweet potato gnocchi, roasted veggies, paella, and prime rib.   And a dessert bar!

We all ate SO MUCH FOOD.  The chicken was my favorite, but really it was all super good.  I don’t even know how many trips I took.  Both kids ate well worth their admission price (V was free and P was a child’s cost).  My kids have expensive taste so they wanted prime rib and lobster quiches.

She is maybe the only person who can out-buffet me and I couldn’t be more proud.

I brought a box of desserts home because I was so stuffed when we left.

Truth be told, they were only so so.  I guess my standards for sweets is too high.

P had milk for his dairy dose and played with his sticker pads before bed time.

The staggered bed time action has been working out well for us, because if we put them down together they just get right up and talk and play and get into mischief.  Once V is down, we bring P in (transferring him to the couch when we are ready to go to bed) and that way they both get to bed and sleep well enough.
