Legoland

Once again, Kyle and I squeezed workouts in first thing, before setting off for the day.  Our plan was still a surprise from the kids, so they had no clue what we were up to.  First things first. Coffee.

I didn’t take a picture of my “best drink ever” (known as the BDE) but it was once again a serious highlight.  I almost ordered something else but Kyle reminded me that I loved it last year so I should def get it again and I’m so glad I listened to him because he was, of course, correct.  Better Buzz you never disappoint.

I also got the BABB (open faced instead of as a sandwich), which has almond butter, bacon, and bananas, to share with the kids.

Ohhhh yeah!

Kyle got a breakfast sammie.

Once we got in the car, we said “hey Siri, give us directions to Legoland” and watched their faces go from confusion to delight.  You only get special moments like that a few times in your life.  Parenting win.

As you’d expect, the entire day was packed with highs.  Legoland is perfect for their ages (mainly him, but she had a blast too) right now!

And there’s still plenty of potential for aging up because they weren’t tall enough for lots of the rollercoasters.

The best rides were unexpected ones…like the ninja one that none of us knew anything about when we started.

Actually that was how most of the day went…we learned a LOT about legos.  Specifically the ones we hadn’t yet explored, like ninjago and friends. [P is super into building legos – and wuld do so happily on his own for hours and hours on end – but we have only done the creator sets]

If you don’t have kids I’m sorry for all the lego talk.

We were thinking of going to Veggie Grill across the street for lunch, but decided that would take too much time away from the park and wound up getting delicious egg rolls, salads, and rice bowls with pork belly instead.

The rice bowls were so good (but a little too spicy for the kids).

My phone died shortly after lunch but I have some of Kyle’s photos.

We went nonstop until about 4:30 when Valley’s lack of a nap became a bit of an issue.

We decided to hit up the aquarium on our way out around 5 pm…

Only to realize the aquarium was, in fact, an entire destination unto itself!!  We raced through anyway, although you could easily spend hours there, because we needed to get food and bedtime going stat.

Here’s my DELICIOUS dinner from Urban Plates.  I got the special, which was chicken with a kimchi sauce (!!!), and two of the same Brussels sprouts side dish.  I could have eaten a MOUNTAIN of those Brussels!!

The kids got the same thing, but split it, with rave reviews.

And Kyle got the meatloaf with mac n cheese and Brussels sprouts.  He said the mac n cheese was meh, but the rest was good.

How fun!! I’m sure the kids were just beside themselves thrilled to go….! My good friend’s six year old is obsessed and easily spends hours building things with them. Heck, i loved legos as a kid! I don’t remember many sets and kits but it’s amazing such a great simple toy is still so popular.
Those dinner sprouts do look good! I can eat piles pf them when roasted nicely they’re amazing
