New product finds

Last week’s “secret special” at Nugget market was a FREE CARTON of walnut milk.  Yes please!

Marketing work well done, Mariani, because I wouldn’t have tried this unless it was heavily discounted (or free) and now I love love love it.  It even replaced the mocha Califia I add in my morning coffee, which is saying a lot because that’s been my “treat” for my first cup of joe for a long long time now.

The walnut milk is a slightly healthier option (meaning it doesn’t have chocolate or caffeine), although it is still sweetened with cane sugar and has a lengthy ingredients list with emulsifiers and gums.  It’s a touch thicker than the other alt milks I usually use, but not as thick as a creamer.  Definitely a yummy new addition to my always changing fridge rotation.

Ole!

Oh look a salad!  I still eat salads for most of my lunches, but snack plates have been creeping in the mix too, especially after I made this impulse purchase at Costco.

Nobody in the world needs TWO 16 OUNCE BAGS of kraut.  But it was the same price as one (non organic) bag so I just went for it.  And now I am finding it’s a nice addition to almost everything.

Like smoked sturgeon and (Kite Hill’s almond) cream cheese.

This is new at Costco (right next to the smoked salmon I always buy) and it’s a nice change up, although it’s a touch dry (so it definitely needs the cream cheese and kraut).  I’d buy it again even though salmon is still my preference.  P liked it a lot too. It’s got the perfect salty savory smoky flavor for his bacon loving taste buds.

Still loving this brand so much!

It’s too $$$ to buy regularly, but for a treat every once in a while I’ll splurge 😉 and then attempt to make it last longer than a few days.

It was pretty awesome with that huge wedge of (grain free/corn free) cornbread from Danielle Walker’s cookbook Celebrations.

And speaking of nut based cheeses…

THIS!!!  I’ve been long awaiting trying Miyoko’s cashew based cheeses but they are SOOO dang pricey.

Finally finally finally they were on sale at WF (when I was there last weekend) so I went for it.  Amazon Prime members get an extra 10% off of sale items at WF so it’s way too good of a deal to pass up on.

I already had this peach and tomato caprese bookmarked for the week so then when I saw the cheese AND tomatoes AND peaches on sale at Whole Foods?!?!  It was like fate!

As you can see, it’s shaped just like a mozzarella ball.  It’s soft and creamy, but sliceable, too, so two points for texture!

It’s slightly tangy, which is not similar to fresh mozz, but the flavor is mild, and combined with the rest of the salad ingreds it was soooo good!

I added avo just because.

We have a never ending situation here!!  I cannot pick them fast enough!
