The last bites of December – part 2

After the last round of mini muffins was such a hit I decided to make another batch.  But we were out of banana, so I opted  for the next favorite puree of the house.  Pumpkin! P didn’t like them as much as the banana ones but still ate them when Earth Balance was added.  It was probably because they weren’t as sweet.  I used a tiny bit of maple syrup but otherwise they were just rice flour, chia and flax, coconut oil, baking powder, and almond milk.  Again, I didn’t write a recipe down because it was my… Read more >

The last bites of December – part 1

Well that came and went quickly now didn’t it?!  Cliche, party of one three million.  Many of our activities were on pause during the weeks surrounding the holiday (swimming, music, etc.) which apparently meant the blog was on pause while I filled our rainy and freezing days with indoor fun.  Tangent: I feel a little jipped with this weather.  We moved to Nor Cal for fake seasons…not this 30 degree BS.  I’ll take my winter with a side of fleece (NOT down) thankyouverymuch.  Frozen fingers are not the sacrifice I was thinking I’d be forced to make… Read more >

Santa breakfast weekend

Early morning tree admiring at my parents’ house. For the past two years we have gone to my parents’ country club for the Santa breakfast.  Both times P has cried his little eyes out while clawing my body with a death grip like no animal I’ve ever seen.  But this year he went in with a new understanding…Santa is in charge of presents!  And that – to quote Martha – is a good thing.  Worth braving the beard for, you might say. In truth, he has been telling me what he’s going to do/say/ask Santa for weeeeeeeeks…. Read more >

The weekly menu

I am always soooo close to catching up and then I just don’t.  Okay.  Last weekend.  Hmmm…I’ve forgotten it completely…let me look at photos to refresh my memory.  Oh yeah!  Saturday we had swimming and then went to Farmer’s Market, per usual. I was ravenous by the time we got downtown (after nursing and working out and swimming with P) so I double fisted it with a decaf soy misto and a gluten free baguette from Flour Chyld Bakery. I also got another chocolate almond flour muffin to go (for a mid-week treat). Kale lunch face.  Standard…. Read more >

The weekly menu

Been working on this post for what seems like a decade.  Holidays mean busy for all the right reasons, so it’s not a sad thing that the blog gets put on the back burner.  On the contrary, it means life is happening and I am away from my computer.  I do like writing and sharing though, so here it goes.  Starting wayyyyy back with last last weekend which seems like an eternity ago, especially when you think about the fact that it was still November.  I’ve been in winter mode for months already.  Now everyone… Read more >
