Mashed potato latke leftovers

I’m not Jewish so I’m not promising this will be anything close to authentic, but it uses potatoes and resembles a pancake, so hey!  Latkes!   Truth be told they tasted a lot like tortilla espanola.   Okay now here’s the thing.  This is not a real recipe because I didn’t measure anything.  But I wanted to share the rough amounts and ingredients because it seems like it’d be forgiving if you wanted to try to replicate what I am showing you.  And it was tasty!   Does anyone even still have leftover mashed potatoes? … Read more >

What I Ate Thursday [Thanksgiving]

There was a lot of food in the house on Thursday.  And the Wednesday before.  Actually, the Tuesday before too!  We set off for my parents’ house after I got my hair cut (finally!!!) on Tuesday evening, so by the time we got there P’s bed time had come and gone and he was not thrilled in the least.  Fussy pants was quickly soothed by the heaps of attention he received once more relatives arrived.  Family! The house was jam packed with people, so the 3 of us shared a room which meant sneaking in… Read more >

First and foremost

I’m planning to do a (photo heavy) post recapping Thanksgiving later but I needed to first get this out there.   Pie!!  More specifically.  Chocolate Pecan Pie!!   My mom is a dessert queen.  She’s known for her amazing cheesecakes and pies.  My dad wants her to sell them, they’re that good.    So it’s not abnormal for the Thanksgiving checklist to include four desserts.  Occupying the top spots no less.  Everyone loves a checklist right? Pre-baked beauty.   The OG recipe. Chocolate Pecan Pie [adapted from Bon Appétit] Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups (6 oz)… Read more >

Food from last week

Can I just show all the yummy things I’ve been stuffing my face with lately in one quick post?  Life before Thanksgiving did exist.  The last of the pumpkin cornbread muffins with eggs.   And yet another savory breakfast.  The to-go cup is because I was heading to MOPS after and wanted to be able to continue my decaf fueling there.   We made pies!  I actually can’t take any credit for this because I was holding P the whole time and another mom did 99% of the work for me.  He had a meltdown… Read more >

Chico weekend

It’s that time of year!! Family visiting.  Fires roaring.  And work is getting slow (enough) because it’s the holidays so everyone can get together.   We were in Chico this past weekend for a wedding, a 1st birthday, and a new baby visit.  So many happy things to bring us all together!!  We arrived in town on Friday evening and only swung by the hotel for a hot second to drop off our bags (I stayed in the car because P was asleep in the car seat).  Immediately after we went to see Billy &… Read more >
