Being an aunt is fun…

Because at the end of the day, you can give the kiddos back to the parents. Alternate title for this post: the four-time-reheated coffee. Seriously.  I don’t think I had two sips in sequence.  It all started bright and early…at 7:30 AM to be exact. We served up breakfast… …but at you can see, the kids were a bit distracted. Ernie has a tendency to do that.  I’d like to say orange skinned puppets aren’t my thing, but they must have some sort of audience… Anyways, once we cleaned up the hash browns, toast, eggs,… Read more >

The brown version

Can you tell I’ve been behind on my reviews? Last time I enlisted the help from my fam in consuming Nature’s Pride Country White bun.  Now it’s time for the brown buns. This beauty, known as Grouse Mountain, is just 15 minutes north of Vancouver, and is open year-round, with Skyrides (seen above) to bring you up the steep 2 mile mountainside overlooking some of the most drop-dead gorgeous views of Vancouver, Washington, and beyond… Seriously, the pictures don’t even do… Read more >

VEGETARIAN CASSOULET RECIPE BY MELISSA ROBERTS (source)  SERVES 4 TO 6* *adapted to feed two very hungry hippies ACTIVE TIME: 30 MIN START TO FINISH: 1 1/4 HR In case you are in the same boat as I was (and had never heard of a “cassoulet” until now) allow me to further introduce you.  It’s usually a meat based dish, but as per Gourmet, this vegan twist on the meal is good enough to have carnivores forgetting that a meat version even exists (see below quote).  ”A leek, carrot, and celery mirepoix, cooked until tender… Read more >
